Pros

If you are a "yes" man, then you can go far, at least until you are not needed.

Cons

Where to begin with this "company." Their employee surveys are a joke. They will tell you that they will listen to your concerns until it comes to pay or benefits, then your opinion does not matter so don't bother. Meetings are essentially an excuse to avoid work. Management had the brilliant idea to have a meeting to discuss why there are so many meetings. Do not look for any recognition if you do good work as you will only be looked at as making the other employees look bad in comparison. Management likes to use great buzz words to inspire employees but don't actually expect anyone to live up to what what they are saying. There really is no innovation with the company, management just really looks at what other companies are doing and decide to do the same thing whether it actually works or would be beneficial. The good thing would be if you are invested in the employee ownership program is that they will do whatever it takes to make sure that share price goes up whether it be firing people (which they have specifically said was to keep share prices from going down) or make sure to push out more work before the end of the quarter to make sure numbers are good. HR cannot answer questions when asked or give the run around when questioned. Still waiting for an answer to a questioned emailed to HR over a year ago. Essentially they will treat as just a resource until you have servered your purpose. If you question their laziness, they will do what they can to make your life more difficult rather than focusing on improving on their conditions or policies. Even their ability to respond to any criticism here is met with a "canned" response.

It is unfortunate to learn that you had a negative experience while working at Nosco. We take the opinions of current as well as former employees very seriously and I can assure you that this response is not "canned". We are proud of our culture of Employee Ownership and our employee recognition programs which include Annual Service Awards held at all 6 Nosco sites, a robust and well developed Apprentice Program, on the spot Encompass Excellence Awards, and local celebrations for safety, anniversaries, achievements, retirements, and other events. If you would like to discuss any of the above topics, or anything else you mentioned in your review feel free to call me at 847-360-4959. Jim McCarten People Operations Manager

Pros

Huge knowledge base! People know their stuff.

Cons

When it is time to make cuts for the sake of share price, senior leadership will look to cut employees with long tenure. Count on major changes every 6 months. Nothing will every be implemented long enough to determine impact. Senior leadership will change direction constantly for fear of being accountable of past decisions. Work/home life balance is terrible. Massive drop in employee survey results in last 5 years. Company is currently rudderless. Avoid especially if you are experienced, i.e. over 40.

We are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience at Nosco , but we appreciate the feedback. We have certainly undergone some recent changes at Nosco and are very excited about the future. Two of our most recent changes are the acquisition of Knight Packaging Group, Inc., and Gooding Company, Inc. These outstanding organizations and their committed employees are a welcome addition to the team. Our employee owners are really what make us special. We have many skilled senior employees in positions of management as well as highly skilled manufacturing positions. Over 40% of or workforce has been with Nosco for over 10 years and 17% have been with Nosco for over 20 years! Employee feedback is important to us which is why we conduct all employee surveys every 2 years. Our survey results and the follow up meetings that we conduct to review those results enable us to focus on areas that need improvement. Our most recent survey, taken in early January 2017, revealed several areas that we are currently focusing on improving as well as areas that we scored significantly better on than we did in the 2015 survey. Once again, thank you for your feedback and we wish you success in all of your future endeavors.

Growing Company During Challenging Times

Pros

Nosco is a great, employee owned company that treats employees well. You are not just a number here, you are part of a growing family! If you want to work for a company that cares about you and will help you grow, then Nosco is the place for you. Employees with drive, ambition and initiative will have plenty of opportunities to grow. There are postings for opening all the time and the company is willing to help employees develop if they speak up and express themselves. This is a good, stable company with morals and ethics. The products produced here help save lives and make you feel good about the work you do everyday. They are investing in new equipment, facilities, training and employee benefits. There are many employees who work their entire careers here for a reason. Being an ESOP with all employees being owners through profit sharing paid out in company stock their first year is a great benefit! This helps create a collaborative culture so everyone benefits from growth. You won't regret working at Nosco.

Cons

As a growing company, change happens often and this can be uncomfortable for some employees. But, change brings opportunity for employees to grow through promotion and job skill expansion.
