      Great colleagues, less great management

      Pros

      Working with experts in their field. Some lecturers genuinely care about their students and coworkers. Large cohorts of students. Flexibility of the role. Campus locations.

      Cons

      Management falsifying Glassdoor reviews to try to paint an incorrect image. Pay is inadequate compared to other areas of education. Departmental CPD is a waste of time. Promotions are based on who you know - most managers/ leaders have a friend higher up who put them there. Inadequate managers who get moved to new roles, rather than being sanctioned after multiple complaints from staff and students. Telling managers you are unhappy and it being ignored. Bullying against staff and students is not a priority.

      Merging with Derby College

      Pros

      No more pros than any other College

      Cons

      The new CEO has been brought in to merge Nottingham College and Derby College. Don't believe all the hype around her, she isn't any different to other CEOs and Principals. It's all about money and take time to look where she came from and what happened there.

      Autonomy. Some capable staff who genuinely care about their learners in every sense.

      Cons

      Non existent pay scaling. Illhplanbee schemes and resources with a questionable awarding body for English. Poor response to recurrent, systematic problems. Ineffective middle management. Non-centralised departmental inefficacy.
