Pros

Company is careful to hire the right fit and will reject qualified candidates with wrong personality. There is much internal promotion. Top performers get discretionary yearly RSU awards. NuData is fully owned by Mastercard and the stock does well. All development staff get a MacBook, 2 external monitors, and standing desk. Fully stocked fridges with soft drinks and soda.

Cons

Many department leaders are busy "empire building" which unfortunately means they put their own department first, and the company second. Each RSU award fully vests after n years and if you get let go before the n years you get no RSU payout. If let go without cause, 1 week of severance pay for each year worked is paid. So often the severance is much smaller than the about to vest RSU award. You can see where I'm going with this... During your employment, the company may use the not-yet-vested RSUs to coerce employees to sign updated contractual agreements, e.g. sign this or lose your not-yet-vested RSUs. Once let go, you'll also get 0% of your yearly bonus regardless of how much of the year is completed. I've only seen one person get fired after a few months etc. Most people get fired after some years and it comes as a surprise to most. There is only one choice of laptop which is MacBook for development staff which comes fully loaded with spyware^H^H^H security software, and you have no permissions to install even the simplest application yourself. The 2 external monitors are smaller and not higher resolution. The smaller standing desks are in tight rows and joined together. Yes, you will be crammed in with video cameras constantly monitoring you. Fridges only stocked with soft drinks and soda. Whereas other tech companies in Vancouver go much further providing healthy snacks and even meals. Innovation at NuData is using the newest Amazon service. That's about as innovative as things get.

Pros

Work life balance, benefits, RRSP

Cons

Below average salary, highly outdated tech stack (PHP, really?!), extremely political environment which rewards loyalty but not actual contribution.
