Not the place to be

Pros

Your coworkers (folks who you share a role with and your immediate manager/team lead) are genuinely some of the smartest and kindest people you will ever meet/work with.

Cons

No hyperbole, everything else. Leadership seems hellbent to drive the company into the ground, you're a ticketbot and not an analyst, no time for training, no support, lackluster benefits, hostile work environment from the top down, HR complaints are not taken seriously or outright ignored, "company culture" on paper but zero in practice, there is a stronger focus on getting the customer to be quiet and not actually fix issues, leadership really seems to have favorites, the buck is passed at a breakneck speed, the name of the game is "blame and fire"... I could go on but you get the idea. This all culminates into zero work/life balance, the most extreme burnout I've ever seen in any field/position, and rock bottom physical/mental/emotional health. The "guiding beliefs" of NuHarbor (help our clients win, always improve, and protect the house) are outright lies.

So glad to hear that you respect your co-workers. We believe we have a great Crew too! In terms of the Cons and Advice given here, at NuHarbor we focus on facts versus the stories people tell themselves. These comments lack facts. To say that the leadership team including the founder of the company is intentionally driving his own company, built on his vision for the future of cybersecurity, is a pretty bold statement... and a story. Everyone has a choice in where they work, why they choose to work there.

A slow burn

Pros

Decent pay Some training reimbursement Had nice company events for a bit Got to work remote (though this is likely being phased out with new positions) Met some really cool people in the trenches here Respectful of lgbtq+ identities and people

Cons

Management asks for feedback but doesn't seem to take action on it. Larger issues like consistently being understaffed, undertrained, and resulting client issues result in blame to the current staff and inconsequential fixes like a reorg. Proper tools like a sandbox or role training aren't considered priorities. Dont expect too much help as it's usually not in the scope of other teams and therefore not their concern. Some benefits seem indicative of a pump and dump situation Management doesn't understand they need people to provide the services they ravenously sell

We are glad you hear that you felt that we have some really cool people here at NuHarbor. We agree! NuHarbor is a growing company and that means a lot of change. Change takes time and it can be frustrating. Protect the House is our first value for a reason. It means transparency around our decisions and while everyone doesn’t always agree, visibility into decisions, changes in our organization structure and our training priorities, intend to ensure the Crew understands those decisions. We continue to invest in technology and automation and the work our Crew does continues to evolve so that the work is more interesting and meaningful all the time. Protect the House, Help Clients Win, Always Improve. These values guide how we work. It reflects that we can be kind and hold each accountable, we have a passion for helping our clients and their end-customers and we recognize that we must always continue to learn and improve, especially in the field of cybersecurity.

Unethical

Pros

-benefits are decent/ok -workload means learning very quickly

Cons

-When analysts discussed unionizing they fired them -Unethical actions and decisions made by management. -Do you like soccer? They are very good at moving goalposts here. -Senior leaders, and middle management lacking in technical knowledge, leading to un-informed decisions and project leadership -Its a pump and dump, they are pushing for numbers in order to sell, it's not a stable environment for someone looking for long term. -management cares more about their egos than their reports.

To be clear, NuHarbor has never terminated employment due to anything related to conditions of employment, such as a group of employees considering a union. To protect the privacy of both past and current employees, we do not share the reasons for termination, whether performance, compliance or other policy related. As a company that grew very quickly, in a field that is and will be constantly changing, the way we work is changing in order to serve clients better. We recognize this environment is not for everyone. Those that thrive here are interested in being part of improving our processes, tools, and client experience. While it can feel chaotic at times, our values of Protect the House, Help Clients Win and Always Improve are still at the center of how we work.
