Pros

The original set of people are good and the CEO is a good person who has driven significant growth for this org from the early days. The culture is generally good and there is minimal to no micro-managing but that depends on which function you work in. The pay is fairly competitive and better than a lot of Canadian companies.

Cons

Since this org is in scaling mode and they have lofty revenue targets by end of the year, there is a ton of pressure on the GTM team. Having worked there for close to 2 years there was ZERO focus on employee development and advancement, aside from the revenue generating team (sales). Some senior people often take no responsibility to provide any guidance/direction and just up and jump ship to another role when the opportunity presents itself, so be wary of this (from personal experience). Moreover, there was all talk of being AI-first and no clear strategy and investment towards enabling teams (outside of the tech team) to do this. Promotions are given on vibes and though they initiated a performance review process it was extremely shoddy and there was no accountability from the management side of the house. Performance reviews are a joke and seemed nothing more than a formality. Advice if you're interviewing here: - Ask them the average tenure of a people in the team you are joining. - Ask what is the process for recognizing and advancing people's careers - Ask how managers are being held accountable, as reviews should not just be one way. - Ask them what is the AI enablement strategy and how much of it has been adopted (tip: ask function-specific AI enablement and not the org-wide stuff which they will tell you they have).

Pros

Good, competitive salary. Niche tech. Some colleagues are great to work with.

Cons

The engineering department had become quite toxic lately, credit to the CTO. Some colleagues were arrogant and had bad attitude. Lots of chop and change in terms of tools and processes. Work-life balance was non-existent in the entire engineering department. Everyone I knew (myself included) would work 12-15 hours all 7 days of the week. You have unlimited PTOs but taking time off was looked down upon. When you talk to the leadership about workload management and stress, they would respond by saying that everyone is doing 80 hour weeks, you are not an exception.
