Unstable and stressful

Pros

Casual dress code. Flexible schedule, although it has become less flexible.

Cons

The company is going through a lot of changes. They can hire you today, and let you go in a couple months, especially in the tech department. Because of the changes, the working environment has become very unstable, and extremely stressful. Advice to potential candidates: wait until the company settles down with its changes first. Pay is low compared to industry standard. Raises are hard to come by

Toxic work environment

Pros

Good work/life balance, good people. Health care is paid for

Cons

Poorly managed, very political, a lot of backstabbing, rampant sexism. Company relies heavily on bonus structure which has been poor in recent years due to net client losses and diminishing AUM.

Chill environment but problematic management

Pros

Chill environment, good work-life balance at the cost of below-average pay. Good learning environment for fresh graduates, where most people are happy to teach.

Cons

The company has some serious problems with managing their management. One research director likes to use threatening methods to ask other researchers to follow his orders and takes credits of the final project. His focus on grabbing the power and having researchers only work for himself is potentially damageable to the company. There are cases where he openly discouraged researchers to work for the C-suite and questioned the motivation of the research projects proposed by the CIO. By forming coalitions and backstabbing, this research director is working against the company's flat structure and causing high turnovers in the research team.
