Drastic policy change negatively affects staff

Pros

Great benefits, vacation. Good work life balance.

Cons

After years of full-remote work, and stating back in September there were no plans for a Return to Office policy, we were blindsided with the news that they were implementing one. Up to now, employment was open to anyone in the province. Now everyone, regardless of where they live in Ontario, is expected to attend in-person 3 days a week starting in April, They said they "recognize the difficult decisions" people would have to make to continue working there afterwards. No exceptions, no consideration for anyone's personal situations. It is so disappointing and feels like a betrayal. Morale is low, and the majority of employees are against this decision.

Toxic toxic toxic

Pros

Benefits package, pension, shirts were okay

Cons

Long interview process (expect 3-4 interviews). Textbook definition of toxic positivity. Obsessed with people working in office despite the fact that working from home is a completely sustainable way to work. They will sell you a false promise of moving up in the company and big dreams for you only to coldly fire you and not even provide reasons why. This is by far the worst place I've ever worked.

Pros

Flex timing, great vacation package, good pension plan.

Cons

The CEO is a former employee of Blackberry who brought in her own team from Blackberry and reinstated them in upper management positions at OCAS. Nothing wrong in that. However the rest of the employees who are not Blackberry alumni are stuck in a dead end job with no hope for any promotions and career advancements. The organization has become top heavy, with the employees at the lower end of the pecking order doing all the heavy lifting. All the happy talk from upper management is nothing short of toxic positivity.
