Pros

If you are white, and have no expertise, you should definitely apply. You’ll be an ED within the year. You can treat staff however you want with no repercussions. You can spend the entire day delegating and gossiping while collecting lots of money.

Cons

If you are marginalized or disabled, you will be bullied, held back, given work well outside the scope of your role, made to work evenings and weekends without overtime pay. Don’t try to voice anything, or you will be blacklisted,

Pros

Mission, values are great for what they represent. Great benefits Growth opportunity Work balance

Cons

Certain top executives I believe corrupted the environment enough to cause a downward spiral in an otherwise great place to work. They allowed to remain to continue to create absolute chaos within the organization.

Pros

Location is at the junction of two subway lines, offices are pretty nice and new, Starbucks is inside the building so you don't need a jacket in the winter to get your specialty coffee fix.

Cons

Senior management are utterly incompetent. HR wouldn't know what to do unless they hired a consulting firm, which they do all the time. If the physician members only knew how much was wasted of their annual dues, this place wouldn't exist because of a membership revolt. There are so many managers compared to working subordinates that the ratio is about 2:1; "top heavy" would be an understatement. This organization may have a mission statement, but it doesn't know what it is suppose to do for the membership. No wonder they have had so much negative press as of late. Yes, the physician members don't have confidence in the governance and leadership, but the staff governance and leadership is equally as bad. I'm not sure who would want to work here, except the long-term (15+ year) employees since they have hugely inflated salaries, titles to go with it (without accompanying responsibilities), and the peace of mind that their severance package would be too big for the place to terminate them, so they just cruise along doing the bare minimums.
