Pros

What the company does is great- putting ObGyn physicians in hospitals 24-7 so a doctor is there for emergencies.

Cons

ObHG was the place to work in 2012. Things have changed now that an investor group has come in. The bottom line is now what matters and employees are not valued resources but a necessary evil to get the work done. The accounting department is understaffed and overworked. Workloads are not manageable and employees are expected to work ridiculous hours to meet unreasonable deadlines. There is no appreciation for all of the extra hours worked. Management rules by intimidation and belittlement. Workloads are not equitable and haphazardly assigned. No value is placed on how long an employee has been there, a body is a body. The department does not operate as a team. Employee concerns are not heard. There’s no professional development, mentoring or collaboration. Management is not good about addressing employee issues with the employee, they prefer to let it fester, hold grudges, and gossip with other managers about the issue. Management is too busy to interact with their employees or to even answer work questions. I’ve seen many highly qualified people defeated by this department. HR and Accounting have the highest turnover rates in the company. The current HR group does not advocate for employees and works with top executives to squeeze out every dime they can from employees.

Pros

flexible hours if you have a good team

Cons

1. The physician component of the OBHG team is not held in high regard. The administration consistently negotiates a raise in reimbursement from the hospital, but will not negotiate a physician pay raise at all 2. Benefits package: physicians have not seen a raise in 7 years while the cost of living has continued to rise. health insurance expensive and minimal coverage, no retirement package except what you put in to 401k (18k max/year out of your salary) 3. continued escalation of responsibilities despite no pay raise. There continues to be (ever increasing) responsibilities outside of your shift work, it is not a clock in/clock out practice 4. Management not responsive to unsafe patient care conditions (too high a volume for one physician to safely manage)
