Pros

It's hot and humid. It's beautiful, but you don't get to partake in any of it. They even have side entrances for the help.

Cons

The pay is terrible, unless you are in upper management. I worked at the beach bar as a bartender, and it was a it pool that includes every bartender in the whole resort, the cocktail servers, the banquet servers, and the managers and supervisors. YEP! The managers get a share of your tips. How much, it's hard to say, because you will never know exactly how badly they are screwing you over, but considering my average pay after taxes and rent was $50 a day, they must take a lot!!! I put in my two weeks, and was told to leave in 2 days and that I was not allowed to work my last two weeks. I guess they do that all the time. My suggestion, if you are dumb enough to work here, just bolt in the night, or you will get screwed. The managers are incompetent and crazy. Micromanagement is their style, and it will drive you crazy. I spent more money to move and start this job than I made in 6 weeks. I can't say enough about how bad it is. And yet, some people here are happy to make $12 an hour. Most workers are poor and black, and I think that that is how the management likes it. They don't know how badly they are getting screwed, and they have no options. Jamaicans and Haitians mostly. It's really sad, and creates a creepy feeling that these "have nots" are serving all these "haves" and with a big smile on their faces, and the whole lot love it. Disgusting.

Pros

Great opportunity to do side jobs and under the table babysitting, house sitting, pet sitting. Employee Pool Fitness center Study Laundry Rooms Bar/Restaurant Cafeteria Volleyball Employee Recognition Programs Beautiful Multi-million dollar views

Cons

The Club members treat you terrible. They are filthy rich and snotty and they think that they pay their membership dues so that they can treat the help like second class citizens. Most paychecks go back to the club in laundry fees, high rent and lack of discounts in on-property retailers such as groceries

Pros

Coworkers helped each other through hard times since we were all struggling

Cons

Promotions are impossible despite being overqualified. Directors would rather bring in someone they know from their previous employer rather than giving a fair shot to someone who has been employed with ORC for various years and is more than qualified. In this way, they bring in their friend and keep the ORC associate who deserved to be promoted earning the same pay while still working at the capacity of the position above them (2 for the price of 1!). When I think of working at ORC, I only remember holding tears in while smiling for Members to keep the show going. One review isn’t enough to summarize the atrocity that working at the Club was.
