Pros
Lots of parking. Free health benefits
Cons
Micromanaging and they don’t trust their people. You are not allowed to wear perfume. Absolutely no cell phones allowed. I asked about using my own keyboard because I’ve had carpal tunnel in the past and they acted like my question was out of line or something. It was so odd! To top it off, I was let go after NINE days while still in training because I wasn’t a “good fit”. Their words. Meanwhile I was passing all training exams with nearly perfect scores, attentive, participating, dressed professional and even went to the company party my first week to network and get to know my new colleagues. Outside my work life, I’m also a grad student which they knew when they hired me. Day 8, I mentioned my class schedule for the next spring semester so management could know early what classes I hoped to take the next semester. I was approved to switch my working days starting in January once I was out of training and more established in my role to not have conflict with my classes that are going to be twice a week. The next day at 5pm after a FULL day of training I was pulled into a conference room with the head of ops and the head of customer experience and let go for “not being a good fit” I asked how they came to this conclusion and was told it wasn’t up for discussion! They smirked at me and it was honestly disturbing how much the head of ops seemed to be enjoying letting me go and embarrassing me, she even smiled on my way out. I have over a decade of sales, customer service, recruiting and HR…have worked for large corporations like Amazon, Stripe, Capital One and have worked with start ups. I mention this because I have a very diverse background & I have never been treated in such a way that my brain cannot even understand what happened & how they even determined this was the best solution? They seem to have hired very poorly in the past and have problems with people calling out and it appears they suddenly decided me being a grad student means I’m not a good fit or too much of a risk or something. They judged me and made assumptions about what kind of performer I would be before I was even out of training! I guess some silver lining is after some thought, I realized in a way they were right, I am not a good fit because I would never think it’s acceptable to treat someone so disrespectfully and treat someone getting let go as a moment to show smugness. It’s classless, unprofessional, and I recommend you stay far away from this organization. They just wasted 2 weeks of my life, my trainers time, company money, and countless other resources all because of a snap decision the head of ops made to let me go for something that could have just been a conversation. I was open to making both school and this position work because they were BOTH important to me. I left my previous full time job for this opportunity which by the way I worked for the last year and went to school just fine. In the end, I was discarded, disrespected and discriminated against for being a student.
