Pros

I don’t think there was very many pros that I can think of other than most of the customers were very nice.

Cons

The store manager is horrible. She talks to you like your dumb. She would yell at you in front of customers and even yell at the other managers. Most of the employees are too scared to say anything because of the consequences she might do. When I did quit she basically harassed me and called me almost everyday trying to get me to come back, she even called my mother trying to get her to talk me into coming back.

Pros

Work is reasonably simple enough, at least in concept. They're somewhat reasonable about scheduling conflicts such as a second job or college. Under our previous management, we had virtually no customer complaints and were performing wonderfully.

Cons

There is virtually zero room for advancement in the company. There is a severe issue with management promoting the people they like over people who are qualified, with virtually zero consideration given to seniority. Pay raises are atrocious. After having worked there for several years, they're still paying less than a dollar over minimum wage, with no opportunity to move from part time to full time. Cleanliness is at an all time low, with the company having eliminated the maintenance department. While previously the company was very customer oriented in its policies, they've recently cracked down severely on their return policy, disempowering their customer service and putting even more work on the shoulders of their team leaders. The location is in complete upheaval after backstabbing inner politics caused a dozen people to quit within two weeks.

Pros

Company did allow flexibility of marchandising ideas at store level, and and kept everything simple. The store manager is given a lot of leeway to run their store. Their ability to buy in bulk and secure good deal buys, allows company to sell merchandise at very reasonable prices.

Cons

The benefits and pay are subpar compared to same position requirements in similar fields. Technology is behind. Upper management is very secretive with information that may be helpful to store management to run store more efficiently. They deffinately need better benefits. If you are looking for a balance of life, this in not the company for you. Because of the small size of the company, there is little oppurtunity to move up. Question some of the store hours. Waste of money in utility and employee expenses when you have a home decor store open until 11pm. Holiday hours odd too.
