Pros
Staff are genuinely giving their all to support the wider community from the borough to address barriers they face. They go above and beyond and tailor their support to the customer. There are lots of opportunities to train and upskill and be mentored by their more experienced peers. There are numerous apprenticeships to gain qualifications and knowledge to perform your role more effectively.
Cons
There is a very biased management team that promote staff that are 'Yes' people, people with less experience that will suck up, and bow down and take on everything that is asked of them even though they are overwhelmed, overworked and not that skilled in leading a team. Your face really needs to fit. I have witnessed people being managed out, and contracts not extended after working their socks off. There are some front facing staff that feel very undervalued. Some of the management are not mindful of boundaries, and openly discuss with the whole team other staff members absence reasons, making unnecessary remarks and comments that cause a distrust of being open. They have their favourites within the team that privately report back to them what staff say, and do on a daily basis. You are judged for having externally personal problems that can affect your work, instead of being listened to and supported. Gossip is rife, sadly to say, you think you can trust your peers, but some people feel the need to feel important.
