Pros

MAYBE you will have a nice house manager (the turn over rate is BEYOND high). You can take the kids out to fun places with company money. If you focus on the kids and the kids only, it can be impactful to both them and you.

Cons

- incredibly low pay - BEYOND disrecptpful management. The women in charge of the residential department at OC are awful. They talk down to group home workers. - Don't believe when they say it is "flexible" work schedule. A girl literally got fired because she asked for more flexibility. - There are only two shifts- WED-SAT//SUN-WED. Get ready to work 40+ hours and say goodbye to your weekends. By the time you get your 3 days off, you're exhausted and over it. - When you leave the company they don't pay out on sick time - The management is so negligent. There have been SCARY, SCARY episodes that have happened in the group homes and they blame the group home workers. I wish I listened to all these warnings before I took this job, don't work at a place where you are cared so little about, have a chance to be sued 24/7, are at risk/danger, plus you barely make above minimum wage. Not worth it!

Thank you for the feedback. We are regularly evaluating the pay to increase where we can and have recently increased the rate for all of our Youth Partners. Thank you for the time you did serve our kids. There is no doubt you had a positive impact on many lives.

Pros

Pay is not so bad and the job itself was enjoyable

Cons

Director does not have a background in the community he serves. Not very ethnically diverse, very high turn over rate, from what I know at least 11 people have quit within a 7 month time period. All the department meetings were about telling us the raise that we were NOT going to get. I was 7 months pregnant when they terminated me. I never received a write-up nor a verbal warning and was told that my "job performance" was the reason I was being let go, ironically it was 3 days before my 90 day probation before I was to recieve medical benefits. Shortly after that another employee left and said that they were completely shocked when they heard I was fired along with a few other people who did not see my termination coming. I would have filed a legal complaint and the only reason that I did not was because I did not want to stress and cause something wrong as it pertains to my pregnancy. Former employees who left before me urged me to file a legal complaint and said that they would make a statement on my behalf but I was too exhausted and pregnant to do so. I was devestated when I was fired because I LOVED my job and what I did and to prove that I really wanted this job I relocated myself from another state and took a 10k paycut just to join this place and to get fired not even 90 days later was tragic. They call themselves a "faith based" organization....who is their faith in? What they did to me and a few other people were just wrong and whomever they have "faith" in they will have to answer to them big time.

Pros

The children and families we serve.

Cons

The saddest part was having a passion about the mission, while being neglected by your own direct supervisor and coworkers at the same time. So much destruction happened to employees behind the scenes, yet nothing was done to intervene.
