Pros

Paychecks for FTEs come in on time

Cons

Every day is a 5 alarm fire. CEO has no startup or business experience. Rich person's pet project. Doesn't pay vendors or contractors on time. Will have to avoid vendors at shows. Constantly jumping on new things to show investors that don't generate revenue.

Run for the hills

Pros

Honestly, none. Some talented people but most are burnt out and miserable.

Cons

I strongly advise against working for Olivlea. This was easily the worst job I have ever had. What I thought would be my dream job quickly turned into a nightmare working with poor management in a dumpster fire of constant fire drills and changing, conflicting priorities. The culture is extremely volatile, manipulative, and toxic. It's a mean girls club that will chew you up and spit you out if you are not in favor. Olivela should be ashamed of their employee retention and lack of empathy. Unless you are one of the select favorites of the CEO your contribution will not matter, and you’ll be gaslight and gossiped about openly. There’s also a huge rift between the American and British employees. If you’re someone who prides themselves on doing good, impactful work, forget it. No one knows what they’re doing here and all priorities are subject to change at the drop of a hat. There are times where the company does nothing as everyone waits for money to come in from the next investor. When the company is funded for a couple of months, all hell breaks loose. I was scared to get lunch or take a quick break out of fear for being reprimanded for not replying sooner. Managers are encouraged to micromanage to an insane degree for a company with as many employees and projects as it has. Your experience in your field is seen as irrelevant, and if you voice concerns you will have a target on your back. Do yourself a favor and run for the hills.

Pros

I enjoyed my coworkers and dedication of teammates across all departments Decent compensation for working 40 hours a week, but be prepared to work a lot more

Cons

This company is mismanaged and disorganized. The founder/CEO doesn’t seem to have any experience running a startup. There is deeply ingrained favoritism at the highest levels of the company and anyone who isn’t a BFF will be treated as irrelevant. Priorities constantly shift to projects with no long term (or short term) benefit to the company, which results in an unsustainable business and constant fire drills. C-level employees micromanage to an insane extent for a company with as many employees as it has. Your experience in your field is irrelevant and if you voice your opinion, you will not only be ignored, but you will have a target on your back. Be prepared for awkward conversations with partners/vendors, because invoices will be paid late (if you are lucky enough they get paid at all). Pro/Con depending on your perspective: if you want a decent discount on luxury goods, shop at Olivela because they are constantly putting on sales to make up the numbers. But beware - you may not get that order fulfilled.
