On Animation cured my cynicism towards animation studio management and the work culture in VFX. They can be defined by their focus on keeping and growing talent from show to show, rather than the too common turnaround galore of juniors other studios opt for. Most of the department heads, and even leads, have worked here for 10+ years, and it showed. Communication was fluid, discussions rarely stagnated, and the talent was experienced and solution-oriented. I worked as a pipeline dev, and rarely has anyone just sat waiting for me to give them a completely worked out solution, it was always a 2-way discussion, and that makes all the difference. Management never talked about "being a family", it genuinely was that way. Even when the company was on the verge of closure, every step was made to keep every employee informed and prepared as best as possible. I cannot overstate the trust and affection I had for the teams of On, Were any subset of the people working there to re-coagulate elsewhere, i would apply in a heartbeat
