The care company that doesn't care.....

Pros

I can't think of any positives.

Cons

A family run business where all senior management are either related to the owner or don't mind boot licking (there are thankfully a couple of them that genuinely care but unfortunately the 'bottom line' comes first and not their clients or staff) The company employs bully tactics to 'manage' their staff, both during and after their employment. The owner seems to proudly state that she cannot give a bad reference but knows what to say to make sure other companies will not want to employ you if you leave; they also use penalty clauses in their contracts to make sure that if you want to leave you will be left with a very substantial training bill (training is also strategically placed throughout the year so that there will always be a debt upon leaving) Clients are constantly messed around and call times changed ( usually with minimal notice) to suit the company and not their clients. No person centred approach to the extent that some care plans have been copied and pasted from others leaving other clients names and details. The reviews of this company say it all and the fact that the positive and top review is from one of their senior management says it all. Avoid this company at all costs; you will be overworked, pushed beyond your limits (mentally and physically) and treated like a number. You will be expected to have no life outside of your work and expected to drop everything at their request (contracts are also cleverly written so that you have no leg to stand on (read it carefully before you even consider working for them (preferably in the presence of a solicitor) On one occasion I was asked to sign a new contract (just the final page as the rest 'hadn't been printed yet' luckily I didn't fall for this but wonder how many people have)

Pros

Very professional and supportive company. Driven by quality to ensure that the clients and staff have a fantastic experience whilst they are with One to One. Management on every level in every department are approachable. Management also very visible and often are out there supporting the clients to ensure that the care standards are met. Runs are economically designed monthly so that care staff can have a months worth of rotas at a time. Built for walkers and drivers to ensure that staff aren’t late for calls. 5 levels of pay depending on what type of service you’re working in which is overall very competitive with other care companies. Paid travel time paid between calls for walkers and drivers. Allocated breaks per shift. Very consistent for clients overall. Very good company to work for.

Cons

There aren’t any that I can think of.
