Soulless company

Pros

Some of the greatest friends and teams I met there

Cons

Imagine a work environment where you’re nothing but a number on a google sheet to corporate, where there willing to fire nearly 100 people right before christmas just because, and then turn around and put up hiring posts a month later because they realize they messed up. I promise you for every position they fired, they are already trying to rehire, and they will go through this cycle over and over again. Do not apply here if you have less than 15 years of experience, or want to be at a company that won’t cut you out after promising everyone’s jobs are safe. You’re job is never safe here. You’re just a salary that they look to cut every quarter here. All the positive posts on glassdoor are before December 2022, when they started mass firing and had new management.

Pros

Some good people. Often the week between Christmas and New Years given as free vacation (but never told far enough in advance to avoid the guessing game of using the use-it-or-lose-it vacation time to maximum advantage). WFH

Cons

One exec came in in the Spring of 2020, followed by countless others from the same company, and tried turning a Google Cloud partner into an AWS one. Then a big commit from Google so that was kind of shelved and everyone pivoted back to GCP. The phrase "SQUIRREL!" applied to more managers than not, all chasing the latest buzzwords. Then came the sale to a Venture Capital firm who only wanted the Google Cloud practice. Most everyone else was let go after that. Even some of us who were Google certified. Benefits sucked from day one. High-deductible Health Care that was next to useless outside of Ohio. No match to the 401k. Diversity was all but nonexistent. Too much nepotism. If you weren't related to one of the two founders, your opinion didn't count for much and your future was limited. But if you were a relative, you could do no wrong.

Pros

It may sound like an exaggeration, but apart from some colleagues, none after the company was acquired by a group of soulless “business professionals”. Literally, none.

Cons

I can’t attest enough at how accurate the recent reviews left by others are (excluding the blatantly obvious attempts at restoring the company’s reputation on here with vague and fraudulent reviews, of course). The reason you are seeing those, by the way, is that the company has suddenly taken concern over their reputation on Glassdoor and are now trying to incentivize employees to leave positive reviews (with an equally embarrassing incentive, mind you). Onix was never perfect, that’s for certain. Following the sale of the company to a VC firm, however, it’s appalling at how much worse things became. For starters, as mentioned here in previous reviews, the company terminated over 50 employees TWO WEEKS prior to Christmas last year. In retrospect though I imagine that many of us who were still with Onix realized that they were possibly the lucky ones. Week after week, it’s almost as though leadership conjures up more ways to crush the once optimistic outlook employees had for this company. Pay raises somehow managed to get WORSE (for those fortunate to receive one at all), multiple experienced team members are resigning on a weekly basis, and all the while those still here and TRYING to remain loyal to this dark abyss of an organization and given higher workloads leading to burnout. All we can do is wait to see what else leadership can possibly do to make us feel an even greater sense of hopelessness here. There is no compassion or understanding of people here anymore. Leadership doesn’t care about you, and they do an exemplary job of displaying it while still acting like everything is sunshine and rainbows during department meetings. For the most part, people were happy to work here prior to the acquisition and ultimately the invasion of the VC firm. Future prospects; please, for your mental health’s sake, take the real reviews you see here seriously as the people writing these do not represent the minority.
