Pros

It’s close to home and that’s about it

Cons

Misogynistic, fake to people, literally only in it to get money from people, set up huge fundraisers to “spread the gospel, and spent it on yachts, and huge summits filled with lavish food and wine

Pros

I like that this isn't a top down organization because OM is in 110 countries it would be impossible for the US office to truly understand the work done in and oversea all the different projects that go on in each country. Each country is responsible for their own vision of what work is needed in that country. This organization is a missions organization it is not a corporation and it is sometimes structured more like a church. The is no skill that can't be utilized within OM globally. Great potential to use your skills and grow in your experience based within a global christian culture. OM does allow women leadership depending on the culture of the country you are based in.

Cons

Each person raises their own support which for some people can seem insurmountable and is probably the hardest thing about working in volunteer support based missions. OM values family and won't take families with children over the age of 12 into new overseas situations because of experience they have seen teenagers not thrive on the field.

Pros

The pre-acceptance hoops seem a bit excesive but it all makes sense once you have been on the field and see some of the people other fields accept. OMUSA is very professional comparatively.

Cons

No pay, but money is not what it is about. Doesn't really prepare you for a real world job if you are just coming out of high school or college.
