Pros

-Increasing your LinkedIn network with leaders in healthcare organizations

Cons

-Poor pay -Exploitative practices targeting fresh college graduates, can't imagine anyone else agreeing to move ANYWHERE in the US for 45k and being locked in a contract for 2 years. As well as you will get no information on the moving timeline for at least 6 months into the job then they want you to get up and go while covering very little of the moving expenses, the max they will give is 4000-5000. -CHiME training is honestly useless, extremely general, not useful at all when going into your "career paths" they made everyone in my cohort a "junior project manager" but they advertise many "tracks" -Trainers and cohort leaders constantly are stressing how much they are doing for us and our careers when really they are turning a huge profit from contracting out our labor and paying us very little but saying "hey but actually we are doing this for your benefit".

Thank you, we rely on feedback to continually improve program to include offering competitive pay for the market. Ultimately Optimum's goal is to provide an intensive paid training opportunity to allow recent college grads to quickly build skills and experience over 12 weeks that will allow them to be marketable in the Healthcare IT industry and in positions that typically require prior experience. We make every effort to identify a client that will build on those skills and experience and ultimately offer full time/permanent employment. We continuously review our compensation model for the role and the curriculum and make adjustments as necessary to provide a competitive offering and positive experience for both the employee and the client. Again, thank you for sharing and allowing us to improve the employee experience.

Disjointed and clique-ish

Pros

The first assignment you get will be a great fit - after that, it's touch and go as they don't have their internal placement act together. I would highly recommend going in as a contractor rather than an employee because if one of their cliquey management members don't like you, you won't get placed again and you'll be 'laid off' - making you feel like you did something wrong or that your skillset wasn't good or some other excuse - even if the client loved you and your work (and then the CEO will publicly thank the HR person for 'cleaning up their messes) (true story).

Cons

I'm throwing pros and cons together, because they're tied together in the company. Don't work as an employee - go in as a contractor. Outside recruiters are good and place you appropriately, but the second assignment can be a disaster. Another thing that really bothered me was that a regular analyst type consultant role - you're pretty much nickel and dimes - but the management people go out and have $600 steaks and $200 bottles of wine, ride uber black service, etc. I was once out at a dinner for 4 that came to over $2000 with only four people in attendance...it didn't feel right...

Thank you for your detailed feedback. I am so sorry you had a disappointing experience with Optimum. We have implemented many changes over the past five years to include additional leadership training, processes to ensure consistency in pay and expense management, and improved communications with all employees. Our hope is that these changes address the concerns that you had while employed with Optimum.

Bizarre. Unpleasant.

Pros

The pay is reasonably decent.

Cons

I don't really even know where to start. Optimum's lack of professionalism and organization, and proclivity towards treating employees like high school students could probably only be tolerable long term for recent graduates who don't know any better or immigrants who are grateful to simply have a shot at US employment (and Optimum seems to concentrate their hiring on both of those groups). If you're intrinsically motivated, used to working for and alongside forward-thinkers who bring their "A" game, or dislike being embarrassed of your employer, this isn't the company for you. Pursue work with one of the many other consulting firms in the healthcare IT space.
