I have been working at Optiver full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Optiver's a unique place to work. You're constantly engaging with smart, passionate people on how to solve complex problems. - It's an environment with a lot of fast feedback, collaboration and personal ownership of results. - You get a lot of responsibility early, and the flat structure makes it easy to engage with stakeholders across the business. - We share a strong culture that values individual effort, and celebrates wins across the business. - The benefits make your life better every day, with meals provided, memberships and wellness benefits, and plenty of celebrations and gatherings to enjoy. - The people are generous with their knowledge and time, and are keen to help you understand what they're working on.

    Cons

    - The work is tough, and you often up against deadlines to deliver, which can make for a high-stress end of project. - Many leaders have come up inside Optiver, which limits their exposure to different thinking and leadership styles (which the business is actively addressing) - It's easy to get caught in negative feedback loops if you don't come in with a growth mindset. - There can be a lot of oversight from senior leaders that slows down deployment, without adding a great deal to the outcome.

    I worked at Optiver full-time

    Pros

Money is good vs most jobs. Interesting problems to work on.

    Cons

Work life balance is not good, if that's important to you try IMC instead. Every 6 months you have to argue/defend why you deserve to be paid. The verdict can be poor performance even if you are making the company record amounts of money. If pay is important to you probably better to go to Citadel. Optiver makes a lot of money but 2/3 of it goes to shareholders. After that most goes to managers, and the company has been progressively top heavy recently.

I worked at Optiver full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Perks Some of the people

    Cons

Management, the louder you are the more chance you're a senior manager. Perks are really just there to bribe you and keep you in the office Work life balance isn't possible The lack of people with general people skills hurts the business significantly The business doesn't value people as much as they say they do
