Pros

Fabrics are fun to work with and coworkers very nice to work with

Cons

The owner treated us like we were her peasants. She often spoke "down" to us in a condescending manner. She'd even remind us of how grateful we should be to be working for her because we "could never go anywhere else and make more money" than she was paying us. I didn't feel job security at Opuzen. The owner would speak so poorly to my coworkers that some of them would begin to have tears well up in their eyes after she'd spoken so disrespectfully to them. It was a very hostile work environment. You could feel the tension and unease among all of us from the moment the owner stepped foot into the office until the moment she left. I would feel fear as soon as I heard the office door open because I was nervous about her arrival. I even felt relief when she was in the next room and not in the same room with me because that meant my chances of being emotionally abused that day were lower. When she was in the office, we were holding our breath. When she left, we exhaled. My workload was heavy and unreasonable. The owner was so moody that I didn't even feel comfortable speaking to her because I was afraid that she would start a confrontation with me or think of something to be angry with me about. When she was nice, it still made me nervous because I was unsure of how long it would last. I still experience a bit of anxiety from this job when someone around me is wearing a scent that is close to the scent the owner wore every day. Yes, this job was that traumatizing for me.

Pros

Can get a raise quickly. It's a small company so you learn all aspects of the industry. Have some freedom to create your own work because of management styles.

Cons

The owner can be rude and condescending expecting more than physically possible. Because this is her life she expects it to be your as well. She throws money at you as a way of securing your long term stay.

Pros

There are no pros to working for this company.

Cons

The owner of this company prides herself on being spiritual and holistic, but she has created the most toxic environment I have ever experienced. Imagine The Devil Wears Prada only the devil was previously in a cult and has severe mental health issues. Each day employees would check in with each other to see if anyone had talked to her and knew if she was coming in to the office. If she was coming in, everyone would be waiting on pins and needles, holding their breath, to see how her mood would be that day. Would it be a bad day or an okay one? A typical bad day would consist of her absolutely berating anyone she could. She often likes to pick one person to go off on. By “go off on” I mean actual verbal abuse. No matter what, you would always be in the wrong and she would always be right. She would even go so far as criticizing employees behind their backs, making fun of their outfit or even body shaming them to other employees. Yes, this woman makes fun of peoples bodies to other employees behind their backs. She also imitates accents and makes fun of different cultures. She even told an employee “I hate the way you talk.” If you try to have a conversation with her about her behavior, she try’s to find a way to turn it back on you, never accepting responsibility or apologizing. On top of her being a massive narcissist, she also shows up to work drunk. This would often happen after she would go out to lunch. Coming back at 3pm slurring her words, asking if she was slurring her words and being the total opposite of her normal self. In fact, everyone loved when she would come back drunk because she was actually nice. Now I know you’re probably thinking, how can it get worse? Well, in addition to the owner’s behavior, there were a few employees that straight up stole money from her and did not get fired. One of them actually got promoted. If you aren’t already disgusted, there is one employee in particular who for some reason single handedly blocked other employees from getting a raise. Multiple times. On top of all of this, the office itself is a mess. Desks are old and falling apart, plus there is no conference room. There are no closed doors anywhere but the two bathrooms and one of the bathrooms doesn’t even lock. Lastly, all of the systems are outdated and the owner makes the employees print out everything and handwrite notes on each piece of paper. I left feeling depressed, traumatized, and with even more anxiety than I had before. I can’t believe this place is still in business.
