OCPL has many great opportunities including job security, potential for promotions, working with diverse public, and every day is different.

Cons

Homeless patrons, limited channels for growth - - - mainly at the branch manager level. If you aren't attracted to that then you may get stuck.

Great staff, but admin needs work

Great coworkers, decent pay depending on position, few qualification barriers depending on position

Cons

Lack of admin support, lack of resources to properly assist the public (Wi-Fi and equipment break down constantly), growing safety concerns dealing with the public, frequent relocation of staff by admin (location instability), low employee value, lack of communication.

Pros

My coworkers at the Foothill Ranch branch were all very friendly and often brought food in for everyone to enjoy. The workplace was quiet and pleasant, and I had a lot of independence.

Cons

The work is a bit repetitive, which I suppose some people might not like. Shelf reading can be very tedious.
