Pros

Base salary (but inly for a fee months) --just enough to keep you going to work but well below market average pay for good sales people.

Cons

Wow - where to start...? Management will never get rid of management and, well, management here is the problem. It is inbred nepotism at its very core - A circle and cycle of ineptitude run ("run" being a euphemism for absurd and profound mismanagement...) by a bunch of previous military officers who are "C" students in life and who were marginal leaders (at best!) when they were in the service. Backbiting, querulous, self-aggrandizing mammals who have not a CLUE as to what true leadership is. Not a single one has ever seen combat yet they all still talk about their glory days as officers. Most of management has been there since the inception of the company and they will never leave. As such, there is little to no room for advancement and no decent human being would want to stay there long enough to move up the ranks anyway. "Leadsership" (again, A euphemism for people who have stayed around long enough to gain title yet have no true leadership ability /interests) sets the tone for the rest of the employees. Every office is rife with petty gossip, inappropriate sexual behavior, misogynistic and racially offensive commentary, and destructive competition. And training..? If you consider a 6 1/2 inch thick binder with outdated material is a great training program…? Well, then this one has a terrific one. Seriously, if you have opportunity of any other kind of employment, grab it and run – the only thing this place will do is make you appreciative of any other job you've ever had/will have in the future.

2 Years of Pain and Worry

Pros

-The Recruiting side of the house is a great gig - less money, but fulfilling work interacting with Veterans on a regular basis. Some really solid employees on this side of the house as well. -Sales side provides solid, grunt sales experience with lots of painful cold calling and pipeline development that allows you to know what that real sales is like for future leadership positions. -Provides a lot of exposure to multiple industries that will help you decide where your real career should start. -CEO seems to have a good head on his shoulders, but upper and mid-level leadership is disconnected from that vision and failing to execute it, so the experience that "could be" is lost in the delegation. -There is some decent money to be made after the fist 9 months, but you will have to grind and fight for every dollar of it.

Cons

-The Sales side of the house is a Casserole of Confusion. Rules of Engagement and account distribution favor tenured Account Executives (AEs). There seems to be a solid turn over of new AEs and this cycle allows senior AEs to scoop up any accounts that were developed by new AEs that turn tail after one year (and there are a lot of them). - When you find the company you really want to work at, Orion WILL invoice that company for hiring you and that invoice will make your first few weeks SUPER akward with senior leadership and HR/Recruiting. Especially when you are trying to explain why you are worth $10k+. -Sales Pipeline is SUPER long and you're not payed until the candidate sticks for months. Lots of drops and dreams of money that is never going to show up cause it takes 6 months to process and get paid. Unlimited factors out of your control on whether or not you get paid. -Flat organization with VERY little promotional paths. You NEED to be able to take your fulfillment from any money you can get. -Truthfully, the Sales Leadership seems to be a bunch of failed Military Officers that have not worked in a real corporate environment. Pure military leadership does not work in civilian life, but they are sure trying to make it. -Lastly, there is little training and mentorship. Swim hard cause they will let you drown.

Pros

You learn a lot about several different industries and it's a good transition from military life to the civilian world. Steve Casey was a fun person to work with and is extremely knowledgeable. Most importantly, the feeling that comes with landing a guy or a girl a great job out the military that they truly enjoy is second to none.

Cons

The culture of the company is extremely poor, especially recently. Shady ethics and patterns of disrespect to employees at all levels of leadership are apparent. The leadership seems either unwilling or unable to realize the serious problems within the company that cause high turnover. I think in the last few years the average time for an Account Executive at the company is around 6 months. Leadership needs to realize that employees are no longer in the military anymore and like being treated by human beings (probably why several employees got out in the first place).Their business strategies aren't very strategic either (i.e. If one industry stops hiring then it can just be made up in another industry).
