Mean Girls in Scrubs

Pros

Great patients! The work itself was rewarding. Most of the physicians were pleasant to work with and have excellent clinical skills. The owners shared profits in the form of a bonus' at the end of the year (unless of course you were unfortunate enough to have a write up).

Cons

Diversity is nearly non-existent and does not appear to be respected or encouraged in the department I worked in. In my department the majority of nurses are Catholic, nearly everyone is white and there were no male nurses at the time I resigned. My manager was inexperienced and unable to maintain objectivity with her staff which resulted in Mean Girls wearing scrubs with a junior high school mentality. The manager was the head cheerleader. The CEO felt comfortable voicing conservative political opinions during hospital wide staff meetings. He apparently did not realize that some of us did not share his view and certainly did not want a sermon on conservative values in the workplace.

Pros

The best part of working for the hospital was by far the patients , it was a great opportunity to meet so many incredible people with all different kinds of injuries that brought them in for care.

Cons

The department manager was horrible , she had no idea how to run a department. If you were in her clan as 1 of her friends you were safe if you weren't and 1 of her friends did not like you then you better watch out because it will only be a matter of time before they will let you go.

Pros

Competitive pay Great patients Nice facility Great Employee Holiday Ball

Cons

An Autocratic Preop/PACU/Post Dept. Leadership in charge, have created a very poisonous environment. You have to "fit into the Sorority-like leadership group" in order to be taking care of. The environment is full of back-stabbing unprofessional nurses and the current leadership in charge, is to blame.
