Pros

None. What they would like to develop is being developed by tons of other start-ups and company. Nothing innovative, don't believe their claims.

Cons

Top Management is incompetent. CEO is too young and inexperienced. He probably thinks working for Osler is like working for Roche, but it is not. Top Management do not care at all for they employers. They have probably written the positive review on purpose to counter-balance the negatives ones. Even employment agencies have started to tell job seekers to not apply to Osler, because it is not a good company. Almost all the engineers working there were fired before Christmas for no real reasons. There are too many Managers, there is a lot of confusion. Lots of hours lost in useless meetings trying to decide what to do next. There is not a clear direction to follow. Long hours of work not rewarded at all, not even with a "thank you". They say their mission is to improve people's life, but they do not care about the life of their employees who do the real job (not the managers). A lot of money spent to employ people in high-paid jobs who are not needed at the moment. No real opportunities for CPD or career development. At least for employees who are on an average salary. The positive review on this website mentions great free food and great coffee. Is that a joke? The "great free food" consists in Domino's pizza and cereals that can be found in any supermarket (for breakfast). The "great" coffee is Nespresso coffee. Are you serious in asking someone to mention that in their review? DO NOT APPLY FOR JOBS AT THIS COMPANY. There's plenty of better companies and start-ups in Oxfordshire.

Pros

There is no pros of Osler Diagnostics apart from maybe it’s based in the beautiful Oxford city centre.

Cons

I wanted to leave a review of my time at this company purely to the “positive” reviews of this company. This company put me through absolute hell, put me in a mental downward spiral to the point of me not wanting to live anymore. They expect the most out of you and in return you get the minimum out of it. The positive reviews are not real reviews, they have been placed there by people who are the cause of the bad reviews, don’t listen to them. I don’t want anyone to go through what I did so don’t apply and move on and avoid this place, one less bad company in the world soon hopefully! AVOID!

Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. Feedback, good or bad is a gift. Osler is a purpose-led organisation, underpinned by practices and principles that we are all accountable to uphold; either as contributors or detractors, culture is something we all own. Osler is also a fast moving research and development organisation that is dynamic and often ambiguous. Whilst we do our upmost to hire candidates that we feel will thrive, demonstrating competencies and winning behaviours, or show us a desire to explore and learn those attributes; we know that not everyone will be fulfilled and/or challenged by the work and/or our ways of working. We also acknowledge that the dynamic nature of the work may affect roles and responsibilities outside of a candidates control. Where that happens we have done our upmost, with empathy and care, to work with individuals to pivot internally, or find fulfilling work elsewhere to continue their professional development. As we grow rapidly, it is reasonable to expect that not everyone will continue with us on that journey. I'm sorry your experience felt so extreme. In my experience here, no one has come forward with such circumstances. We will strive to better direct people to the support mechanisms we have in place for well-being. As I'd expect with any R&D start-up we do what needs to be done, and some times that creates challenges that require extra work. It is a hope that people do that willingly and in return we offer extreme flexibility in our working practices and benefits to compensate. Thank you again for you review.

Pros

If they ever manage to develop a product it would improve healthcare.

Cons

Management are arrogant and completely divorced from reality . People making decisions are lacking in experience of what is required to get a product to market. Employees are treated like disposable consumables. They ask for blood and pay peanuts. No work life balance. Average of 4 layers of managers for each scientist. No respect for employees actually doing the work. No acknowledgement of people's hard work unless they are the management favourites (this does not imply they do any meaningful work). Company mission of improving people's lives does not apply to employees. No career progression. An average of two employees leaving each month. No healthcare. No overtime. Unpaid long hours.

As we grow rapidly, it is reasonable to expect that not everyone will continue with us on that journey. With regards to some of your specific points: - Our turnover remains incredibly low. We hired 79 candidates in 2019 vs. only 6 that left. - In December, 2019 we rolled out an extensive benefits platform including private healthcare, life insurance and income protection security. - with regards to career progression we offer 12 development days annually and 4% of salary as personal development budget to ensure that professional development is aligned to the continuous improvement we desire as an organisation holistically. We review performance quarterly, salaries bi-annually and create development plans as part of that process. - Osler offer, where possible, extremely flexible working programmes. Once again, thank you for the review and we wish you every success in your onward journey.
