Pros

Flexible hours when you are not on the road Great HSA eligible healthcare plan Hourly pay If you have a major family event coming up, they'll do everything they can to accommodate you Quarterly bonuses are great, when the company turns a profit.

Cons

Lack of direction Owner is attempting to sell company Never know when you'll be on the road or for how long. Management of the Cincinnati office is very political and narcissistic. This is a well known feature of OTI: pay raises are NOT competitive with other companies! Laid off disabled person without warning after only 4 months. Claimed work performance, but probably due to disability. IT is extremely cautious which more often than not impedes on work flow. Let us use the outdated software and get our job done! Job is closer to 75% travel, far from the advertised 40%. Never met the owners of the company during my tenure. No idea what the owners wants done, other than big profits of course.

Outbound Technologies Response

This is a tough review to read. Let us start by responding that no Senior Controls Engineers have left the company in the last couple years from the Cincinnati office. However, there have been terminations of engineers who did not try to invest in themselves or the growth of the company. System integration is fast paced, challenging, and rewarding. It tends to draw out the passion of those who love learning and designing something new. It tends to weed out those for whom it is just a paycheck. That being said, here are some facts about Outbound that our former teammate failed to mention: • Two owners of the company work out of the Cincinnati office. They would have been in direct contact with this individual daily. • Outbound uses an ERP system to manage our projects from bid to completion. This includes tracking and reviewing travel time for all our team members. In 2019, the average travel time was 21% of all labor recorded. This does not include weekends home or holidays; this is purely work weeks on the road. • Our Cincinnati office is 15 engineers strong. This means we must all operate and work well together. There simply is not the size or opportunity for politics at our three offices. However, they are a great size for having a voice and influencing the direction of the company. • Outbound is a certified CSIA member. We are routinely audited to make sure we are following the best practices in the industry. Also, each Outbound office holds peer reviews with similar companies in the industry. In addition to providing a great foundation for growth, this allows us to sanity check our salaries and raises remain competitive. • Outbound’s IT department is very cautious. We are a company that takes our security, and the security of our customer’s IP, very seriously. We are registered Solution Partners to Rockwell, Siemens, and Kepware. This means we have access to, and daily use, the latest software from these companies. • Outbound is an equal opportunity, non-discriminatory employer. We have never terminated a teammate because of a disability. All of our teammates have regular, written reviews and know if we feel they are struggling. We want everyone to stretch, grow, and succeed. With this in mind, we have routinely waited longer to release an underperforming team member than our peers. In all honesty, we wish our former employee would have taken the chance to get know the management and owners better through our team building events, taken the opportunity to invest in themselves with any of our paid training programs, brought any grievances to our attention directly or through our anonymous, companywide polling, used lessons learned sessions from job closures to improve future performance, spoke up during the weekly staff meetings, and been excited to be a part of the growth of Outbound. We wish them the best in their new endeavors.
