Expect MUCH of YOU and Little From Outreach

Pros

Serving churches and making results for the Kingdom.

Cons

The staff are considered "expendable and replaceable"....this is echoed in every department. They expect loyalty from you and for you to give regardless of the sacrifice to your family, health, personal time, etc. This loyalty is not reciprocated and they will spit you out faster than Jonah in the whales mouth when they don't need you. Benefits are minimal and even though the company is closed during Christmas, you are required to take vacation. It's all about profits and what can you save the company and what can you do for them. Unfortunately, they don't walk the walk concerning love and kindness. Its now become a revolving door of employees coming and going so quickly, but sadly, those who had tenure of 10+ years have had enough and are peeling off one by one.

Good place, not great incentives.

Pros

It's a pretty easy going place. Nothing too crazy ever happens and the balance between work and home life is great. Not too many people have to take work home and it's usually their choice when they do. The CEO is great.

Cons

Not much incentives to do extra work. The salaries aren't that great. There's no room for growth here, and they don't give raises so it can be a bit of a dead end job.

Pros

Easy going place to work. Pretty relaxed atmosphere, unless you are caught up in a season. Great location in the Springs, lots of trails to hike during lunch break. Lots of parking space, close to the building which is nice in winter. Most employees are friendly and helpful. There's always deer eating outside - they are real friendly and don't run off. Everything is self contained at Outreach from IT through manufacturing, which is a big advantage in not relying on vendors to meet deadlines. There's always a campaign going on which makes the days and weeks interesting and reduces boredom.

Cons

From my experience, favoritism in this company is off the charts. If you are not in one of the clicks, you're going to be ignored, made fun of, and mocked behind peoples backs. Getting ahead is impossible. Lots of false promises, followed with very low pay. Doesn't matter if you are up in the offices or in manufacturing, they will tell you that you are being paid higher than the going rate which is false. Managers at this company are an embarrassment. They really have no idea how anything works, they ride their teams hard, and expect miracles out of the teams. Everyone knows that they are the laughing stock, as they try to be cool, and make all these promises that never materialize. We know that the orders come from the top, and because of lack of knowledge, there is never any resistance from the managers and we find ourselves not really wanting to be here. They make us take surveys to get the best results but we all know this is just a scam, those that speak up and tell the truth are soon isolated and eventually replaced. One of the managers left - he always wanted the best for us, he would get involved with us at all levels and help us succeed, but the managers now don't know what is going on. Everyone wanted to be on that team, but now there is a split and people forced to follow orders from leaders who have no idea what is going on. This is hurting the company. Most departments are disconnected, products are advertised before they are manufactured, and there is always chaos and finger pointing. There is a problem with spoiled work and do overs increasing and no one cares anymore as long as the data is made to look good upstairs. We were efficient but that is gone now with new leadership. People are afraid to speak up for fear of losing their jobs.

Thank you for taking the time to voice your concerns. I would be more than happy to sit down with you personally and hear your concerns and do whatever is possible to address them. I'm especially interested in knowing more about false promises that were made. Send me an email if you would like to talk. You mention a survey that we made you take. Two years ago we allowed employees to voluntarily participate in the Best Christian Workplace survey. Why did we do this? We did it because we care about our employees, our culture and getting better. The results of that survey came back with an average score amongst all organizations who took the survey - not good enough! We listened to the feedback from our team members and made many changes and investments in 2015. We increased our communication and feedback opportunities with employees. We provided more opportunities for learning, growth and promotion. We invested in more employee benefits and we set aside a larger percentage of our profits for raises and investing back into our team. To encourage fun at work we invested in ping pong tables, Free Food Fridays in the summer and an adventure check out program where employees can check out kayaks, paddle boards, Go Pro's, tents and other equipment. This January our employees voluntarily took the survey again (96% participation) and our employees scored Outreach as a Best Christian Workplace and we ranked near the top of all companies surveyed. I was humbled by the result, but determined to continue to grow and make Outreach even better. You voiced a concern about pay. We use national and local salary surveys to make sure we are paying market rates. In January, we gave everyone above market increases and added new employee benefits such as short term disability. Two years ago we decided to cover 100% of our employees health insurance costs and this year we again covered a $100K increase in health insurance premiums for our team members. For 2016 we committed to investing 1/3 of all our 2015 after tax profits into raises and increased benefits. Why? Because we care about our team. We did have a management change in the Production department recently, but I have heard nothing but positive feedback from team members in that department. I personally spoke with the new manager and he not only walks around daily getting input and listening, but he shared several instances of changes that have been made because of team member input. I hope you will share any concerns you have with your new manager as I know he is ready to listen. You mention problems between departments, spoiled work and lost efficiency. January 1st we launched our new web to print technology which has increased production efficiencies and lowered prices for our customers. We are in the midst of our busiest season (Easter) and not only are we seeing record orders, but because production is running so efficiently we are accepting more rush orders. If you still have concerns, I hope you will share them with your manager or schedule a time to share with me. We are ready to listen. Scott Evans President and CEO
