Pros

Never pros with Smart Circle

Cons

This is to let everybody know this is a Smart Circle office in San Diego. Slave hours, poor pay, and highest turnover rate of any company ever. BEWARE and stay away.

Pros

Unusual hours so you'll often miss traffic. Not behind a desk all day. People are pretty nice too. Professional experience in terms of attire, conference calls/meetings.

Cons

The company is clearly a pyramid scheme. Entry level position is attending meetings in the morning, and selling some product in a wholesale or grocery store during most days. Meetings, workshops and conference calls consistently tried to brainwash us by repeating rhetoric like "you create your own opportunity," and "if you're not making commission you're doing something wrong" (I know this sounds paranoid and just like I was bad at my job, but more than half of us new entry level employees felt jipped and brainwashed by this company as we continued to make minimum wage for a job that required way more effort, supposedly being worth it for the "opportunity" to climb the ladder). You have to memorize and regurgitate pitches for products and use techniques to build customers to their highest impulse to get them to buy whatever you're selling - it feels reaaallly scummy; it's also practically impossible to make commission, as a group of us figured out by week 2, the way they set up the pay scale, despite what they'll tell you in the interview process. On top of that, they expect you to "remain indifferent" about whether or not a sale is made, because "we're promoters, not salespeople," and yet your commission depends on hitting a quota each day, and if you don't make enough sales in day, they'll grill you about what you're doing wrong. But yeah, it's reasonable for them to ask us to "remain indifferent." It's a glorified mall kiosk position, the only different is they offer "opportunity" for upward mobility within the company - but like I said, it's a pyramid scheme, so chances are they're taking advantage of your minimum wage sales services until you see through it and quit. They'll give you a "solo day" or two soon after hire, as soon as you prove you're competent enough to make a sale. It's supposedly to assess your individual capabilities, but it's the most horrible experience - 8 hours alone behind a booth in a store trying to sell whatever product you're working on - and they'll grill you with questions about the details of your pitch if they don't think you've sold enough by mid day or the end of the day. AND they expect you to appreciate the "step up" of a solo day, and be completely excited about it. The next step after entry level is leadership, which I didn't stay long enough to experience, but it was clearly ridiculously time consuming for what I can guess was hardly any more pay. I understand that every entry level position requires you to start from the bottom and pay your dues - and I'm not opposed that. But this company uses that belief as an excuse to promise you upward mobility, and create a pyramid scheme instead. The people who work here, though mostly very nice, are still deluded by the idea that eventually they'll climb the ladder and make the big bucks, so they continue to work hard for little pay, when in all likelihood there aren't enough upper positions for more than a couple of them. If you want to give it a try, they're sure to promise you upward mobility "if you work hard enough," and who knows? maybe I just didn't work hard enough. But be warned and be cautious if you're hired.

Pros

There is SO much growth...I love the fact that every day we are advancing, we are growing and learning...theres so much to learn that we don't learn in an everyday type of path...this is NOT a job..its a career. The leadership team is so helpful in building relationships with us that help us growth..the management team has nothing but OUR goals in mind and are willing to spend a TON of time and money on traveling and training....I LOVE the chance to grow into management in such a rapid pace....GREAT opportunity...

Cons

Huge time commitment...alot of work...but it rewards us for the work we put in....the more work we put in, the more we earn, the quicker we grow....
