Pros

The office is on Michigan Avenue near Tribune Tower

Cons

Although advertised as a buying position, it is not that at all. You cold-call at least half the day and do CYA entry on the computer the other half (so that the Tunisian management will believe that you are doing your job). The goals are extremely unrealistic, and every month you will get dragged into a conference room to belittle you about why you aren't making your goals. The action plan that management gives you doesn't work. Your objective is to source offers on closeouts from U.S. suppliers, send the offer to the real buyers in France, and wait for their response as to the goods they are interested in and how much they want to pay. While the buyers' offers are usually pretty fair, that is their landed offer; you still have to deduct freight and duty into France before you can make an offer to the supplier. Once the freight and duty are deducted, the offer is so low that about 1 in 1000 suppliers will accept the price; they can sell to domestic close-out companies for a much better price.

Pros

The office location is nice.

Cons

Local management was extremely unprofessional & incompetent--not speaking English well, not doing any real training on the CRM system or company processes, and then berating and insulting employees when there were questions/confusion. Also, the position is 'buyer' but that's not what you are---you are prospecting/sourcing leads for the true buyers in France who make a yes/no decision on the product and give prices; you do not have any authority to offer pricing--you're just a middleman. This position will not lead to a true buying position with other companies. Also, the prices the company offers for products are way too low---it's too hard to find products / companies in the U.S. that are willing to accept low-ball prices; many American companies see the offered prices as tantamount to stealing/thievery.

Pros

Great location downtown and decent pay

Cons

Do not work for Ozeol. They do not care much about their employees benefits and are poorly financially organized or prepared to face unexpected situations. They laid off all the international prospectors at the Chicago office due to the Covid 19 but they did not even provide a 2 weeks pay. They unexpectedly stopped our work activities and only paid us one week of work, leaving us in very precarious conditions. Real corporations would pay you at least 30 days of work. Ozeol will dump you with no compensation. They celebrated 10 years of anniversary in January inviting their staff around the world to Tunisia but have no money for emergency situations like Covid 19? They should have action plans for situations like with insurance money to pay the staff at least for 2 weeks. Do not waste your time applying for a job with them. Even before covid they were closing offices so your position may be at risk. I was very disappointed with the way they handled the Covid. It just showed me their ethic of work is pretty much non existent.
