Pros

Pace of work is challenging but rewarding Unbeatable lifestyle in Portland, Oregon relative to Wall Street firms Good compensation but success-based with entry-level below market Constant exposure to leading edge technologies

Cons

Internet IT practices are relatively weak (still a small firm IT budget) Traveling to/from Portland can be cumbersome relative to limited number of direct flights Employee-owned firm so focus on growing profitability sometimes overshadows reinvesting

Pros

Up through 2015: Meritocracy; collaborative; low politics; fair compensation; great work culture; full service platform; focused on the long term and building a platform; no/low micro management; good people trying to do the right thing; management is humble and admits when they make a mistake

Cons

Now part of a larger bank with more regulation and compliance
