Pros

The company never didn't pay me on time.

Cons

I never leave reviews. Last time I left a review was about a local diner when Yelp first started. But a former coworker pointed me to a review left recently that management called fake, and I feel compelled to offer some perspective. Pagely is not an easy place to work. It's a really tough place. Management isn't bad at their job, but not good to work for. And to dismiss someone's legitimate gripe isn't cool. So now I'm saying my piece. 1. The fact that everyone works remotely makes it challenging to collaborate. 2. Management never points the finger inward when something goes wrong. It's always an engineer's fault. 3. The worst kind of person is one who pretends everything is fine to the outside, when the insides are hurting. Management doesn't properly address many internal workflow concerns and often launches product iterations without consulting those that mattered most... the engineers. 4. The CEO spends more time on his social media than he does taking care of employee concerns. Point in case, look at his twitter feed. 5. The CEO desperately wants to be the thought leader (and leader in general) that he is not destined to be. He often quotes himself, which is one of the most overt egomaniacal things I've seen in my long career. Again, look at his twitter feed. He quotes himself nonstop and then has secondary twitter accounts that he favorites his own tweets from. He went as far as to hire an Indonesian click farm last year at one point to like his tweets... unsuccessfully. Again, I left Pagely peacefully and I'm a quiet man, not looking for trouble. But management can't call someone's heartfelt review fake. I worked with them. I know the truth. This is not the place for 'good culture.' Don't believe the posts management makes from fake accounts.

Pros

It's been great working with good developers again! I've learned quite a few new technologies (mostly AWS services). In Phoenix, we have the only (afaik) dedicated office, located at Galvanize for the engineering team. Of course, we can still work remote, but most of us like to work at the office at least half of the week. We also host azPHP (Phoenix' biggest PHP meetup/group) there. The company is very adamant on having a good work-life separation and encourages taking time off when you need. Every person I've worked with in the company has been top notch and everyone's a leader in their department. The company is also still small enough where everyone knows every one else's name.

Cons

Engineering dept can be a bit particular in how things are done, but really it's a good thing IMO since we allow for any good developers to join the team... just don't come in expecting to be a "XYZ Framework" developer.

Pros

Cool product that came about at the right time.

Cons

Josh Strebel is a monster of a human. Before #metoo was a thing, he was pushing the boundaries of what was societally acceptable for a male leader. He was extremely rude to female staff often berated people for making mistakes instead of productively helping people to grow in their roles. And his wife often caused serious drama in the office. I tried to help advise him in growing the business, but to no avail. Like with a few other male leaders I've met over the years, he simply didn't know how to quell his ego.

Sadly, this false/fake review appears to be some form of a personal attack against myself and my spouse specifically. 1 - We've never employed/hired/paid an "advisor" of any sort at any time, let alone for 3+ years in the Phoenix area as this 'reviewer' states. 2 - The small number of employees who have worked longer than 3 years at our company, are still currently working at our company. (The reviewer states they are a Former Employee of 3+ years) 3 - As a 100% remote team, we don't have a physical office, for there to be any drama to be created in. 4 - Our turn over is so low, and our company is small: if any of this alleged behavior was remotely true - We would not have a company to speak of - The people we employ are entirely too smart, competent, and savvy to let anything like this fly. 5 - The rest of this person's "review" is equally false and malicious. No Idea how Glassdoor verify's someone actually worked where they say they worked - in this case that verification appears to have failed.
