Once great, a terrible place to work post-acquisition
Pros
Engineering managers are invested in your growth as both an engineer and an individual. Engineering managers will also try their best to protect you from office politics and beauracracy. The engineers are brilliant and hard working.
Cons
Since the acquisition of Paintzen, this company has gone downhill.. All leadership that once made this place great has left and will continue to leave. The parent company claims to be transparent, but is not. Since the acquisition, there have been many instances where they'll hire many sales people, based on this unrealistic belief that business will bounce back. When they realize that demand for their service has not increased, they will then fire those exact people. Development has gone from being something that was involved and engaging, to just being a chore because management mindlessly clings onto this idea of aligning with both agile and scrum, yet the team doesn't grow. What's the point in implementing these things when we can all just have a conversation and have it be over and done with? The management from the parent company has no idea what they're doing. They want to improve things, but they don't want to invest any more money in the company. They want to be modern with agile and scrum, yet they're still tied down by the values of an antiquated company. If you're planning on joining, my advice is don't. It's not worth the time and frustration and you definitely won't be getting paid enough to make up for it.
