Pros

From a very thorough interview processes, to a useful work trial, i felt i got a true insight into the business before i was fortunate enough to be offered my current role. Introduction and onboarding was very well organised, structured and above all, well supported by the HR and L&D team to make sure the initial settling in period was as smooth as possible. It also meant that facts and procedures were accurate and more likely to be understood as i settle into my role. Introduction to all departments, was very helpful, and a good ice breaker in helping me feel a part of the team, which i have to say was very welcoming at all levels. A truly comprehensive and thoughtful approach to retention and selection of staff, which i hope will provide many years of service from myself

Pros

Great culture, everyone is really friendly and welcoming. Interesting and fun products to sell. The company invests heavily in social activities throughout the year. Lots of work benefits. Management team are easy to talk to and helpful. Flexi-time working hours. You can buy and sell holiday. Low turnover of staff as people seem happy to work here.

Cons

Commission scheme for sales is not the best. More appraisals and negotiation on increasing salary would be good

Pros

The Design Team were all lovely people and worked well together. There was a real comradery between all the artists. The parties were always a good bit of fun and the Licenses we got to work on were amazing. Most of the employees at Paladone are lovely people and wonderful to work with. I have remained to be good friends with some of them even after leaving.

Cons

You will be over worked and underpaid. The company treats design as an unlimited resource. There will always be insane deadlines that stretch design too thin with no break for them to recoup. Paladone Claims to be eco friendly but insists on sending out large amount of product mock ups to customers only to be thrown in the bin a few days later.

We consistently hear that the people are what makes Paladone a great place to work along and we agree, the people here are fantastic! Our staff love our social events as well and so we are glad you enjoyed these also. With regards to feedback about workload and pay, they are important points to raise and we acknowledge that at the time you worked for us we would have been in a period of growth and this naturally can produce some pressure points across all parts of the business. Recently we have introduced a staff forum where staff can raise important points about a number of things such as health, safety and wellbeing, and general questions for management to answer or discuss further. Additionally we have now started to send pulse surveys to staff to gauge opinions on important changes and to ask about wellbeing as part of this. We are also encouraging managers to have open discussions with their teams to understand concerns and pressure points. We never want staff to feel overwhelmed and we have a wellbeing committee that will specifically address important areas that cause concern for staff. With regards to pay, a lot of work has gone into the pay review process which takes place annually and a lot of research goes into understanding market rates for jobs across our company and comparable roles within the gift industry and area. We actively work to ensure people are receiving market rates for their role and that pay progression is considered each year in accordance with how the role develops. When the business performs we have offered generous bonuses to reflect the efforts of all of our staff and we are satisfied that people are receiving market rates for their roles according to our industry and if they are not, there is a pay progression plan in place. We acknowledge that pay is one of the most important factors for staff feeling valued and motivated and there will always be the need to continually review this. With regards to breaks, we monitor breaks, holidays and working hours continually and we are not aware of any issues in this area. Please do get in touch with us as we would welcome discussing this further with you and to understand where the areas of concern were. With regards to being eco friendly, we are a company that pride ourselves on trading ethically. Customer demands naturally put pressure on us however we are continually reviewing ways to be more efficient, whilst maintaining standards and ethics along the way. We set up an environmental team to look at matters such as waste management around the company amongst other initiatives. There are lots of opportunities to do more for the environment .
