Pros

Free coffee? They don't have any perks better than any other tech company. Most tech companies in Eugene have better perks like ipads, phones, etc

Cons

When you join they tell you they will never let you go without going through a warning process. This is simply not true. Multiple people were let go let go in my time there. Since I left I have spoken to them and for almost all of them it was sudden. No warnings. CEO will tell everyone you were on probation even if this never happened. Not a professional culture and the company does not have a good reputation around town especially with other tech companies. Very boring place to work. Just walk inside and you will feel it. No office stimulation and everyone is quiet. No idea how they are still in business with the turnover rate and reputation problem.

Palo Alto Software Response

It is always hard when an employee is not the right fit. We are very picky about our peers, and our culture is very purposeful and important to us. We strive to provide employees with a great place to work and the benefits we feel are important. If you are looking for free ipads and beer on tap, this is probably not the right place for you. If you are looking for great health care, including dental, vision and orthodontia , and paid maternity leave, paid paternity leave, 401k matching and a flexible workplace (among other benefits) then Palo Alto Software could be for you. Here is a link to all of our benefits: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1MAnyNu-MgCr0nNCnJiiH4BHjqCGVc1gjB2sxggiOECE/edit?usp=sharing Our workplace is all about empowering employees and focusing on results. This much autonomy can be hard for people and not the right culture for them. For people who want more hands-on management, and have a hard time in an environment where there is a lot of freedom to make decisions, our culture will be hard on them. We work very hard to be a great place for people to work at, and have many employees who have been here for over 10 years. We work really hard to make sure we hire people who are the right fit. We aren't perfect and are always striving to do better.

Pros

Impressive benefit package (has worsened in the last 6 months), great colleges, work from home flexibility, free parking and snacks, great work/life balance

Cons

Management is out of touch with employees. CEO airs personal dirty laundry out loud in office, noisy work environment. Unfair compensation. Private company, CEO fires employees on a whim and literally makes up reasons. Inhospitable environment for women despite the fact that the CEO is a woman.

Pros

Good benefit package even though you have to pay for everything yourself before getting a refund.

Cons

Management out of touch with employees Negative office culture. People not happy to work there, just stay for money and benefits CEO makes hiring and firing decisions against managers' choices and plays favorites Company does not help people move between departments. Many people leave because of this
