Pros

Excellent health insurance, excellent pay but. Go to the cons.

Cons

Hours!!! Once the weather becomes “Grilling” weather, tell your friend and family “see you in the fall. There is NO SET schedule, period. You will say things like “it was a short week for hours this week, I only worked 60 hours.” Bakeries are exempt from many labor laws, and they take full advantage of it, and you! NOT an exaggeration!! Management in production has 3 immediate family members working together, also a corporate VPs family member was hired to be a production supervisor, with his only experience being sanitation. Can we say favoritism! The mindset is “everyone is replaceable” except for them. And they all are hot heads and frequently lose their tempers and throw tantrums. While no one runs a business not to make money, they care about making money, nothing more. You will NEVER have 2 days off in a row, unless you request the time off, if approved, maybe at a holiday will you get 2 days, but only if it lands on the right day! You WILL work EVERY thanksgiving. The work environment is HOT. NO A/C on the production floor. But the management does. Take the outside air temp and add 10 degrees @ 80-90% humidity during the summer. Frequent equipment break down because they are so cheap. They seldom have spare parts. To be fair, don’t blam maintenance. They are just as frustrated. If a part should be routinely replaced every 6 months, they try and get a year out of it or more, and then blam the operators for poor product quality, even thought the poor quality is because of the worn out parts. Breaks are 10 minutes only, NO lunches, except for management, they can do what ever they want. Don’t say “that’s illegal”, because of labor law exemtpions, it is not. Being production based they do shut down to clean, but if your on the finishing shift, your there till the work is done, could be 6hours, could be 18 or more! Again NOT an exaggeration. And these are just the big ones! If you have no issue selling your soul, have no family or friends, and only care about working yourself into the ground to make money, this IS is a wonderful way to go about accomplishing that goal.

Pros

The pay was ok but benefits were great.

Cons

Long hours- I was working 2am until 3-4-5pm as a route driver at the Sun Prairie location. Terrible supervisors and management! I was wrongfully written up (several times) and even suspended. They tell you not to talk to the union... But I did. They ended up dropping all of the write -ups and the suspension! I would constantly hear supervisors talking bad about route drivers... in front of other route drivers... And this included racism! The supervisor I had was extremely inexperienced and did nothing to help you out. I would not wish this job on anybody. I have been gone for a few years and have not been happier. I know since I have left several of the route drivers under the same supervisor (that have been there much longer than I was) have quit or been fired. Its sad that this company picks such poor individuals to supervise its routes in Sun Prairie. I loved my job... Hated the company. This is NOT a fun place to work! If you are currently employed by pan o gold do not be afraid of the Union. These types of actions need to stop.
