Pros

If you like working with a team of professionals, who want the best for the companies they serve and each other, Partners Marketing Group will be an excellent fit. The culture is positive from top to bottom.

Cons

If you like working in an office everyday, Partners will not be a good fit, since the company is remote.

Pros

This was an incredible place to start a career in marketing! I so appreciate the breadth of opportunities that were constantly available from either client work, internal training sessions or knowledge sharing within the team. The founder/President ran the day-to-day operations, showed up for all client engagements, and somehow still made himself available as a mentor and teacher for the team. There were multiple occasions in which I was able to express areas of interest, all of which were followed up on with hands-on training and opportunities for practical application to client work. As for the culture, I truly enjoyed my interactions with every single person I worked with. The President set the tone for the team, driving a culture of inclusivity that enabled everyone to speak freely and be themselves. I feel that this open environment allowed each team member to bring their authentic selves to work each day. In my entry-level role, I was able to build so many technical, digital marketing skills and hone in on areas of interest like content marketing and SEO. Additionally, I learned so much about client account management across a number of small business verticals.

Cons

When I worked at Partners, I didn’t really have a baseline to compare the environment to as it was my first marketing job. Looking back, I think I craved a little more structure (org-wise) than what was there; however, that’s just the nature of a small agency. To put that into perspective, I have worked at a few large corporations since then and have more cons to share about how they operate…

Thank you for the kind words. We're glad you had such a positive experience! It's true this is a good environment to learn a diverse range of marketing skills quickly. Everyone is hands on, and it's a very collaborative culture. We've definitely benefited from our internship program, which has brought us bright, thoughtful, responsible talent and grown them into highly capable digital marketers. As a small agency, we have struggled to provide structure and growth opportunities for our early-career members. Without the dozens of open jobs you may find at a large agency, how do you advance within the company? We recently began implementing an organizational change that gives more opportunities for advancement, in terms of compensation, roles, and responsibilities. And we've started filling more senior specialist roles (Paid Media Manager, Account Manager, Project Manager, SEO Manager, etc) professionals. This benefits our culture, as well as our clients. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience!

Pros

Partners was the perfect place to start my career. I was able to learn from an amazing set of talent and have close access to the owner/President, who is a gifted marketer and was generous with his time and insights. I learned an immense amount from the team. I gained a breadth of understanding of many facets of marketing and was able to try a lot of new things every day. I also appreciated getting to learn a lot about small businesses and see what it took to make an impact on a small business. If you're looking for a place that you'll always have something new to try and lots of opportunities, this is a great place. The President of Partners was always generous - things like team lunches was frequent and it was clear that he was doing his best to make benefits align as well to our needs as it could for the size of business. It's my understanding that benefits have improved since my time which is great.

Cons

The normal cons for a small business - needing to wear a lot of hats. I think that people that like to be "renaissance persons" really thrive in these environments but people that want to be more specialized or have very niche interests may find the environment more stressful.

Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts! We have indeed expanded our benefits to include a liberal parental leave policy and (nearly) unlimited PTO. These are in addition to a 401k, 100% paid healthcare, quarterly bonuses, and a professional development stipend. These are hard to offer as a small business, but we know they're essential. While there are still daily opportunities for variety, we're also reducing the need to wear a dozen hats, or juggle shifting priorities. For example, we've defined more specific roles and client assignments to our multi-talented digital marketing managers and specialists so they have a clearer focus in their day-to-day responsibilities. We've recently changed our work breakdown structure, leveraging a classic Account Manager/Project Manager approach. And we've hired senior specialists so our team is a more balanced mix of early-, mid- and late-career professionals. Thanks again for taking time to share your review!
