Pros

nothing aside from front-line staff (marketing team, apprentices and the tutoring staff who try their best.) as well as previous HR (I can't comment on the current.) who tried to make things better for staff before being thrown out for their attempts.

Cons

Unless you kiss up to the CEO or are family, you'll get nowhere in this company. Bullying is an extreme issue that is ignored, and you'll be made to feel terrible if you can't meet up to their unreasonable standards. All the CEO cares for is the way he looks (which is why he shoves his books in peoples faces), and the money he can throw at making the building look "nice" (whilst dividing all departments with physical walls and making redundancies to "save money."..), basically anything other than the wellbeing of his staff. I witnessed while working there a HR assistant having to take time away from supporting staff and handling their busy workload to read through his upcoming books for him, staff being emailed by senior management at 2am and expected to drop their private lives to respond, multiple staff being made to cry as a result of the CEO, tutors breaking down in hysterics from the sheer pressure they're under and redundancies being made only for them to throw the man who made that decision out and re-hire in all the roles they shoved out a month later, I also witnessed a manager being thrown out for disagreeing with their treatment of apprentices, staff being bullied into making linkedin accounts to praise the company, as well as emails repetitively sent to guilt people into making reviews on Glassdoor to make themselves look good and banning staff from having group chats due to the environment it created allowing staff to speak and reveal how unfair they're being treated. I went back after leaving to say goodbye to some colleagues and I can honestly say after witnessing the environment there again where staff look entirely miserable whilst being forced to pretend they're happy, that I wouldn't wish for my worst enemy to work there. I wouldn't trust any of the positive reviews, knowing how staff were being forced to write positive ones and being myself a member of staff who was also forced into making positive comments, that and other reviews are members of his family. Honesty isn't their best policy.

Pros

They are a fantastic organisation at self promotion, utilisation of networking contacts to promote the business and preservation of staff who fit in and cannot say no when asked to complete work not within their remit. This unfortunately will be the only time the word "Fantastic" is used and a Pro is I no longer work for them. They use their large events or sister organisations to gain trust and build up followers, using such events to overshadow the parts of the business which are failing. You can get promoted if you are willing to do the things others will not. The organisation does not have any incentives in its contract of employment and is a plus because its easier for them to remove any staff members quickly.

Cons

Awful management leadership that fails to listen to the workforce, ironic considering they have "Workforce Solutions" within their business title. The management are only interested in those that follow and immediately remove anyone from the organisation who does not fit into the requirements of the business needs. If you fail to execute relevant commands even where you have provided sufficient data and evidence to reflect why they should not move forward with a decision, the CEO finds it easier to remove you as a threat or rather should I say implement a fall guy to execute commands relying on a culture of blame. The CEO and one of the directors are distance from what actually happens on the front line and only intervene for removal of staff. The HR Department do not understand the concept of Human Resource Management and again if challenged will happily admit failed responsibility of their own actions by looking at alternative ways to remove you from the organisation. Pathways recently went through a restructure and failed to answer certain questions put forward from staff collectively but instead failed to consult and answer certain questions, selecting IT issues as their reason for muddled or poor communications and actively choosing not to answer questions outright with guidance from their HR. This the COO felt was fair and reasonable to tell staff that the restructure was announced the day they found out even though this was discussed before the COO was appointed. I worked for the organisation for a long period of time and was very worried about their blatant lack of due diligence and ownership of issues, lack to recognise talent within teams, listen to the voice of the business and failure to drive performance opportunities. Once again Ironic considering the CEO loves to promote his motivational books and use Social Websites to promote himself as a celebrity. Once again ironic considering he doesn't like to engage or talk with anyone when there are issues or problems. Don't write anymore books if your going to ignore your own words and work. If you cant motivate yourself to become a better manager then you won't be able to motivate the reader.

Pathway Group Response

It is true that everybody can learn from feedback. The time and effort you have taken to put together this review is worthy of us sitting up and taking notice. I am truly disappointed to hear this has been your experience of working at Pathway Group. The perception you have of how we operate is certainly not one that is condoned or recognised within our business. We work hard every day to ensure fairness, consistency and transparency. Changing a culture is a long-term journey, one which we are committed to. It is true that networking, social media and motivational leadership books are very important to our CEO and actually bring about many benefits to our business. We have recently conducted an Employee Engagement Survey which was anonymous and therefore all employees were free to provide feedback on all workplace issues, including management style and communication. The results do not portray your perception of how we manage our staff, in fact quite the opposite. You obviously feel very strongly about your experience of working with Pathway Group and the CEO would welcome an opportunity of learning from your experience to improve things where possible. Please feel free to write to him directly and share any feedback you may have.

Pros

On a daily basis there were none, however if I had to give one we would get pizza at the end of each month for lunch?

Cons

Micro-management, unobtainable targets, extremely poor treatment of clients/service users, bullying from managers and other staff towards staff members and clients, blatant favouritism, tension and unfriendly competition, public shaming of staff members in team meetings, being told we were not worth our wage if we couldn’t keep up with impossible asks. Any issues raised were always thrown back in your face by management and redirected as a criticism to the staff who raised it. Encouraged to treat service users poorly to force results. Staff members being fired left right and centre, to the point of management telling a room of colleagues they are firing the staff member as they are walking in from the car park first thing!
