Pros

Boarding discounts and free daycare. Tips. Holiday pay.

Cons

Let me start by saying that there was a time I enjoyed my job. That time didn’t last long. I think PetSuites has the right idea when it comes to what a luxury pet boarding and daycare facility should be like, but they have the wrong people trying to spearhead it and a corporate office who is more worried about the dollars than the animals. I worked for Petsuites for over a year, and in that time period we NEVER had consistent management or a consistent staff. Hourly workers would quit within their first week. Ive had coworkers be demoted or fired for first offenses yet I also have coworkers who have 4 and 5 write ups for the same things. I have seen both favoritism and racism in my workplace. People are fired and let go for no reason while others are given pass after pass. The majority of the original staff has been fired, “let go”, or quit in the past two months. A member of management was let go for harassing us. It went on for months. We were expected to deal with it until they got around to it after multiple whistleblowers came forward. NVA, the company that owns PetSuites, did not want to allow us the extra staffing hours to properly staff the workplace. This resulted in the animals not receiving the proper care. There were times where we would have over 200 dogs in the facility with 4 or 5 staff members trying to care for them. There were times when staff members were left in a yard with upwards of 30 dogs by themselves. There were times where staff members had to be in the yards with no break for the entire 7 or 8 hour shift. More recently, management would sit in the office while the employees and animals suffered trying to get everything done and everyone taken care of. Dogs would not get their playtimes. Cats would only be checked on once a day. There was one time where a member of management stopped me from going around cleaning up rooms and making sure the dogs weren’t sitting in their own feces to give out frozen peanut butter treats. Because priorities. Dogs miss medications frequently. Dogs check in without required vaccinations frequently. There is little to no oversight on the IMPORTANT thing because they are too busy making sure that the storage rooms and back offices are organized. I have had upper management and members of corporate come into my resort that do not know how their resorts are run. I have had to pull out the employee manual twice to show them that we were doing what it said. I do not understand why NVA and PS are intent on hiring from the outside and putting people without relevant animal experience in charge of running their resorts. I’ve met members of corporate that don’t have the first shred of knowledge on dog behavior. Ive had members of management at my resort who don’t know the first thing about a dog in general. We have had member of management knowingly accept a dog into the resort with no rabies vaccination. That puts the staff at risk. We accept dogs that only 1 or 2 people can handle. There are roaches and ants in the building and wasps in the outdoor play yards. It’s not fair to the staff or the animals. Even during COVID, my coworkers were working with LESS than a skeleton crew. I left because I couldn’t take the mistreatment of the humans and animals anymore. I was tired of my coworkers and I speaking up and not being heard. They preach an open door policy but slam it in your face when you try to talk. I’m still owed a bonus check from March. It is now July. I do not believe I will ever receive it. I left with absolutely no notice as I could not take the environment for another shift. The whistle has been blown before but fell on deaf ears. Now the place is being turned upside down and it makes me incredibly sad as there was a time I was proud to tell people I worked at PS and I was happy to go to work every day. This work environment turned into one that was unsafe and borderline abusive. I do not recommend working here. I will not return here. This company was by FAR the worst company I have ever worked for and I recommend that you run away from here. Fast.

Pros

The only good thing about this place is Candice and the dogs.

Cons

The managers dont ever do anything but sit in the office close the door and say no one can go in there just so they can get out of doing any kind of work or anything to help their staff when they need it the most. Not to mention their pet pro “leads” believe they can just sit there and watch you work and tell you what to do without helping at all because they think they are entitled just because they have the title of a lead what a joke😂!! The ONLY actual lead that does her job correctly, doesnt treat you like garbage and deserves that title is Candice. There is no arguing about that and almost every single person i worked with would back me up on that. This is by far the WORST job ive ever had simply because of management and their so called “leads”. They dont treat you like you are an actual person and they will make you work 10x more than one person should because they dont want to. They could offer to pay me $100 an hour and i still would never go back its that terrible. If you want to hate your life and have managers that do nothing but degrade you be my guest and apply to this job but otherwise id listen to all of the bad reviews they are there for a reason we arent making this stuff up. Even the clients hate the management and talk about how they need to get fired simply off of how they treat us. The second i quit that job i felt instant relief and couldnt be happier. They literally make you so depressed and have made so many employees cry and feel bad about themselves. 100% the worst job anyone could ever ask for. Nobody should ever work here. When you see this place you should look the other way and run as fast as possible.

Pros

literally just the dogs and cats

Cons

toxic work environment doesn’t even begin to describe this cesspool. to start, the management is abysmal. they don’t help or listen or encourage anyone. forget about getting a raise. understaffed. overbooked constantly. 1 person to 25-35 dogs is ludicrous. due to this, the dogs do not get the care they need or deserve. the managers care way more about the money than the employees’ or dogs’ well-being. it’s also just a very clique-y environment with a lot of gossiping and talking behind backs. the turnover is massive because of all the problems. honestly if not for some of the dogs and the few coworkers i did like, i probably would have left sooner. i once watched them ignore a dog’s health concern for 7 hours after being informed of it by an employee. they told the employee that she was stupid and didn’t know anything about dogs. the dog ended up dying that same night from congestive heart failure. we had notified her of a wheezing coming from the dog hours earlier which is a tell-tale sign of congestive heart failure. she then proceeded to lie to the family and take credit for “helping” the dog. she attempted to blame everyone else besides herself for the dog’s death despite everyone witnessing her buffoonery. she even made the employee cry and didn’t care in the slightest. that was the final straw for a lot of us. most of the shift leads would refuse to do anything besides stand by the pro station and chat while the pros were forced to walk 150+ dogs with only 2-3 people. we would be struggling to keep up, and they would tell us they wouldn’t help us straight to our faces. they act like being a shift lead means you don’t have to do any of the work a pro does because you’re somehow better than them. oh please. i now work at another dog boarding facility where they actually care for the dogs and us. it’s refreshing. if you love dogs and being treated like a human, do not work here. seriously. do not work here.
