Pros

There is a ton of exposure to different plants. There is also a handful of employees and managers that are genuinely great people.

Cons

There is no consideration for an employee's life outside of work. The managers work 60 to 70 hours a week and expect their employees to not have a life either. Training is a joke. Every every time I had to work with the trainer I wanted to quit. She does not have a plant background nor any sort of gardening experience, and talks down to employees continuously especially when you have a different viewpoint then she does. It's a shame that employees will not make as much as she does when they have the expertise and amazing customer service that she preaches about us not having. Pike nurseries would do well with rehiring someone that's a better trainer and able to communicate better with different types of learning needs instead of firing people that don't meet her standard.

Dear Former Associate, while we appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback, we certainly would have preferred an opportunity to discuss this in a more personal and direct manner. As the number one independent garden center in the nation and as an employee-owned company that has been in business over 127 years, we are proud of the work that we do, the teams that we work with and the customers we serve. We work hard to get our jobs done and it's not always an easy job. However, the reward of working outdoors, alongside the best team in the industry makes it worth it! If you have more specific information that you would like to share, please feel free to contact me directly at mwilliams@pikenursery.com or (770)921-1022. Good entry level position that will earn you experience and references. Will help you learn basic sales knowledge and how to deal w irk customers of all kinds.

Cons

Management has a rotating door. Policies and managers are often inconsistent, leading to confusion and discrepancies with customers. Corporate treats hourly store employees like peons.

Pros

Working alongside those who enjoy the plant world, and helping customers achieve their gardening goals.

Cons

This company abuses employees by not following through with agreements, working them excessive hours in the spring -- particularly those in management, and not addressing concerns promptly or at all. Old equipment which needs replacing and exposes a dangerous environment to employees and customers. Often understaffed, which cause unnecessary stress for those who are working. Low wages. Little time off. High turnover.
