Great stepping stone, toxic company culture

Pros

Great teammates and lots of social activities. Some departments have amazingly caring managers. Awesome short term career progression

Cons

Unrealistic deadlines, high burnout rate, lack of long term career progression, inexperienced managers due to high turnover. Some departments have toxic workplace harassment and bullying by specific individuals in upper management - complaints are ignored or victim-blaming

Pros

The people at PikPok are great, lots of opportunity to work on such a variety of titles — sports, action adventure, puzzle. Not just a studio focused on one genre.

Cons

Wellington is becoming expensive to live, which makes it hard

A studio with a lot of talent and immense potential

Pros

- A diverse portfolio of games as a publisher and developer: across genres, platforms, and business models. - An amazing leadership team that is very transparent and genuine which gives opportunities for mentorship and creates a culture of trust with them. - There are enough games in development and in live operation to learn from and to work on. - The CEO has been making sure that PikPok is at the forefront of releasing games on all new platforms and business models in the recent past. - Initiative is rewarded and talent is recognized when it's apparent. - A very diverse and liberal studio team, various social clubs, and a lot of givebacks to the game dev community in New Zealand.

Cons

- Currently, there's a lack of senior and experienced personnel in particular departments and roles (which is a great opportunity for someone with that experience to join.) - Living in Wellington can be expensive. The leadership team is initiating solutions to help make this better already. - The product team leadership structure can be rigid across teams but the skillset differs, sometimes leading to challenges with team dynamics and operations.
