Pros

Union, you can't get fired.

Cons

Worst, God forsaken job I've ever had. Abuse from every direction-patients AND supervisors, risky for a license, understaffed. Mountains of paperwork, impossible schedules, one incident report after another. Nurses come, see this dumpster fire and leave very quickly. ENTIRE INCOMING TRAINING CLASSES LEAVE. Make no mistake, the RN does not run the unit, the patients-Long Island's most psychiatrically challenged adults-are in charge. No change is expected of them, there is no incentive whatsoever for a patient to do the work to rehabilitate themselves or recover. You've been warned, abandon all hope ye who enter here.
