Pros

Great Job and Training. Co-Workers are very competent in what they do.

Cons

No one above a Sergeant feels the need to have to talk to you when you are having problems. Sergeants are just "yes men" for their chain of command. Command Staff will hold grudges for years until they find a way to get back at you for any mistake that makes them feel any heat.

Pros

Stable work place, you know for the most part where you will be working. Pay is better than most in Tucson. Endless overtime available.

Cons

The pay "looks good" upon paper anyway, but in reality between taxes and deductions its not that great. you will be working for largely incompetent people with little understanding of your job or are so out of touch with what your job is that they make egregious decisions. Toxic leadership that will go out of its way to punish perceived nusances or threats. Retaliation tactics when you go against the leadership. Training does not prepare you for what you will actually be doing, your real training will start once you pass the academy. Good old boy system of advancement I.e. "its not what you know, But who you know, who did you brown nose, who did you spend time with to get promoted" Dead end career that will not lead to anywhere, promotion will be capped at Lieutenant in 2022. Being a corrections officer does not help in promotion to Deputy as the department fondly likes to tote.
