Rude & Unprofessional Workplace

Pros

A foot in the door.

Cons

Some of the rudest people you will ever encounter. Management seems to think they're presidents of some major motion picture company. AP/Post Supervisor is a crazy woman off her rocker that just lashes out at employees based on the kind of day she is having. Completely unprofessional. Couldn't pay me enough to return.

Pros

It's a casual work environment, you learn lots of different jobs at once, you might get a chance to be creative, and some show units get to travel.

Cons

If you're from another state, you will learn the hard way they take advantage of Florida being a "Right to Work" State. People will work 80-90 hours a week, which isn't uncommon for TV production when you're on a deadline, but they do not pay overtime because they sneak by the law requiring overtime if you're paid less than $455 a week by paying the lowest paid people $50 more than that. This is deliberately done so they won't have to pay overtime. Some people are paid daily what others make in a week, but everyone works the same amount of time, and have just as hard of a job. People work 30 days in a row (No exaggeration), Raises are not given, no benefits are offered at all, No paid Holidays, when you ask to go home at the end of your 10 hour work day (Yes you have to ask) you are scolded like a child for "not being passionate about the industry". You will get taken advantage of if you are not careful. Yes, it's freelance, and this can be the way it goes, but it's not a company winning any awards for being a good place to work!

Pros

getting to work in reality television has it's ups when living in central florida, where there seems to be hardly an entertainment field at all

Cons

tv in general is tough. be prepared to sacrafice your life, nights, weekends, birthdays, and other major life events to spend it with the crew. it's not a job for everyone (or anyone with a spouse/significant other)
