We were not allowed to claim ownership of our candidate leads, so my candidates were stolen 100% of the time. If I presented my boss with a candidate and suggested that he or she be interviewed for a position, the boss would not allow it. He would then steal my candidate for another job almost exactly like the one I had chosen for the candidate. This is how he took my commissions. The office was absolutely filthy, the furniture was torn up, old, and from Goodwill, and we could not allow candidates or clients to visit in person because of this. The boss would not allow me to take a lunch break; instead, I was forced to eat with him and discuss "work." This was illegal. The boss was terribly unprofessional in his demeanor and appearance, and he would frequently act and speak lewdly and inappropriately. He was very immature, moody, unprofessional, and did not maintain a professional appearance. Even though a full-sized office was available and empty, I was forced to work in a closet/cubicle next to the secretary. The two other recruiters had full offices. To this day, I am appalled by how unprofessionally he treated a high-level employee. The phones were antique and did not function properly. The network would crash daily. The tech guy that the owner hires was incompetent and rude. There was no upward mobility or chance to join the partnership. I was never paid a commission in my 4 months there; I feel like I was lied to in the interview. There were no benefits.
