Disorganized mess

Pros

The attorneys are nice. Meaning they mostly just ignore you. The free parking (even on weekends) and snacks are nice. Pay is decent.

Cons

Management doesn't care about the real issues in the firm- work flow, file management (it's a hot mess), inter-department communication, morale, firm culture, etc. The manager doesn't know how to manage attorneys, just tries to pacify them without exercising any problem solving skills. She also gets there late and leaves early every day. And so much gossip, probably the most gossipy place I've worked. It's awful. It's also an extremely disorganized firm. The senior attorneys are holding on to paper filing with an iron vice. If you want to work in an even semi-modern, young or adaptable firm: run.

Pros

Friends I made while working here (most of whom are no longer with Pirkey Barber ("PB")). Pay was decent but not worth it due to the below listed cons.

Cons

I've worked for decades in the legal field, both with IP law firms and in the corporate field and I can say that PB is the most TOXIC, DYSFUNCTIONAL environment I have EVER worked in. It's difficult to put into words the hell I lived while working here, but here goes. I knew within my first week that I'd made a mistake by leaving my previous job to come to work here. However, I'm not a quitter and I was determined to make this move a success. Unfortunately despite my efforts, I was continually met with abrasive confrontation and on a daily basis was verbally harassed/bullied both face-to-face and through email communication. When every move that you make is micromanaged, scrutinized and judged, it begins to wear on you slowly and exponentially over time. Oddly enough, despite the overbearing harassment, you are still left in the dark to decipher on your own exactly what it is that management is demanding of you. Professional, rational, and respectful communication is completely nonexistent, replaced with hot-tempered and unfounded criticism and bullying, most often not even related to the current situation at hand. After 2+ years, the harassment continued to affect me emotionally but most concerning my physical health declined drastically in the last few months at PB. That's when I knew I had to leave.

Pros

I've worked for several law firms over the years and have to say that these guys take the cake! I have found everyone I've worked with to be friendly and the attorneys genuinely care about the employees. They have great benefits, flexible work hours, they pay generously based on years of experience, and there are lots of great events throughout the year to keep things fun around the office. They even pay for our parking. Everyone works hard to do quality work for our clients and I'm proud to be a part of the team here.

Cons

The traffic downtown is crazy and sometimes it can even be hard to get out of the garage when there's a big event. It's awfully convenient to have parking at a central location 24/7 though.
