Pros

Very Flexible schedule. The people are incredibly smart and willing to share. Work on some very interesting projects at large companies and government entities

Cons

The pay is sub-industry average. You will likely be called while on vacation. It sometimes feels as if management isn't sure which way it wants to go.

Pros

Work from home Limited domestic travel

Cons

Management will lie about everything. The lies will be to your face and behind your back. The owner is extremely insecure. He only listens to those with blind faith in him even if they are unprofessional and/or incompetent to customers and coworkers. Employee "ratings" based on a rigged ranking system. The "leads" hand out assignments and give themselves points for work they do not perform. The "leads" ratings stay inflated due to this practice which has been reported multiple times and remains in place. The ratings determine how your work performance is viewed by management.

Pros

Pivot Point is the best company that I have ever worked for. Corporate culture, from the very top down, is excellent. The interview process can seem a bit labyrinthine, and it can take a while. Pivot Point itself is filled some of the smartest, and finest, people I have ever worked with, not just on the consulting side, but the operations and sales sides as well. Work is interesting and challenging, and often quite complex. Many clients are long-term clients with whom a consultant can build a relationship. Very fun and supportive environment. Very idea-oriented environment. If you have an idea? Management will listen and take it seriously. Very flexible work environment.

Cons

Monetary compensation is average for the (burgeoning) information security field. Schedules can be highly variable. Although they try to balance one's schedule, the nature of consulting means that in one month you can be traveling 50% of the time, and in the next none. Sometimes the workload and deadlines are such that you'll be up to 10 PM finishing that report. Compensating for this is that other days? If your workload allows it and you want to take the afternoon off? Nobody is going to say a word about it. Pivot Point is still a smaller organization that is experiencing some growing pains, but they manage it well.
