Pros

Working with kids and families (Not that you got to get to know them at all properly with the 20 minute shoots - If you spent longer than that you were in big trouble)

Cons

The managers - When I first started there was a manager, trainee assistant manager and a fairly new starter like me. After coming back off my 2 weeks training, the newbie had already been let go. As time went on I learnt that this was completely normal and there was a BIG turnover of staff there. The 2 managers would talk about me. The main manager would talk about the area manager, and the assistant manager would then talk about the manager. It was ridiculous. The training - The course itself was okay but the class was so big a lot of us had to share computers and was never given proper direction of what we had to do. Coming back to the studio after training was awful. Nobody had time to practice shoots with me and when they did they used teddies to shoot on. (Because that's the same as a bouncing toddler) My manager told me I had watched enough photo shoots to know the correct pose sequence. I didn't even know how to change the light settings as was never shown properly. Made myself look like a complete idiot in shoots The push of sales - The way they teach you to sell is to be as pushy as possible, make the customers feel guilty for not wanting to spend £600 on photos. I saw one mum cry because she was shown all the pictures and then told the price. She simply couldn't hardly any of them and was upset as she really loved them Targets - If you don't get the targeted amount of bookings in that shift then don't expect them to be your best friend. Because it's your fault that people don't want to give you their money there and then off the street. The money - This job is great if you want to work on your feet all day, get spoke about and moaned at, constantly pressured all for peanuts. Bottom line is I ended up walking out. Since coming back off my training I was constantly left to run the shop by myself after the manager went home sick or we were simply too short staffed. I had to cash up, do the end of the day management paperwork, lock up, promote and do photo shoots, just a week after my 2 week training course. My manager then had the nerve to lay into me about not being productive with my time when I was left on my own and not meeting my targets (this is coming from the woman who would sit on the phone to another studio for 20minutes moaning about the area manager). When I told her I was not happy with how things were going she laughed and told me to do my job like I should do. I simply picked up my bag and coat and waved goodbye. A few weeks later I saw her in the middle of town. She swore at me and called me names. I wrote a letter to head office explaining everything that went on but never heard back. Disgusting company. I wish I had known beforehand

What an absolute mess

Pros

Absolutely no good points about working for this company

Cons

Very very very overworked and very under appreciated. Absolutely terrible pay that you're told will increase but it never ever does. You're expected to be a photographer, editor, presenter, sales person, and promotor. Very unrealistic targets set by management who don't have a clue what they're doing. Expenses are paid months later so you're constantly out of pocket. Training is terrible and you're thrown in the deep end completely clueless embarrassing yourself in front of customers and getting told off by management for "doing it all wrong"
