Pros

This job is completely based around the employee who has no sense of worth or ambition. If that is you then this is your job. Employee charges saved me a trip to the store at 7am but its my money anyways so take this with a grain of salt.

Cons

On the flip side of the previously mentioned "pro" if you do in fact have a sense of ambition and worth, Plaid will micromanage the micromanagement, and poorly review it right out of you. Heres what to expect: Minimum wage. Ok but if you recieved raises in the past and those raises bumped you up to the new updated minimum wage, don't expect to keep your raises on minimum wage. No no this company doesn't take cost of living into account, to them this just means they now HAVE to pay you the raises you recieved. Speaking of raises. 3 months in you may have done a bang up job; your area manager, store manager and maybe even your district manager have been saying and hearing good things about you. You get a raise of 5 CENTS! Good for you! You may be able to buy a Starbucks if you save all those nickels, given you work full time. After 6 months you may even be able to buy two with another 5 cent raise. Say you make it to assistant manager. You're now making within 30-65 cents more than your sales associate. Your hard work is surely valued here. Let's talk hours. You will probably get full time. Good right? You work a grave tonight (9-7am) and a swing tomorrow (1:50-10:10 pm) if you commute lets see how a few of those pan out. Sleep schedule shmeep spedule is Plaids motto. Hey they might even throw in a 30 minute store meeting during the day when you have to work a grave that same night. Don't worry, you will get paid for it. Say you get mostly graves, but they are on the weekend. Well forget EVER getting a weekend again. You see seniority rules here and well, seriously who wants to work a grave on the weekend? You'll have more fun watching other college age kids go party and have a descent social life any ways. Remember this is what Plaid scrapes together (really just barely) a whole 9 buckaroos to pay you for. And look on the bright side, you may have a few weekdays (what are your friends doing again? Oh right, working) to get your sleep schedule back in order just to go screw it up again. Hows your relationship with your boss going to be? Well, here at Plaid Pantries we truly believe that if your boss didn't tell you to do your job, didn't call you mid shift to tell you again, didn't leave a hand written note listing your nightly duties, and just for good measure we didn't post a list of your duties on your cigarrette cabinet, well you would just be too stupid to figure it out even after a year. Here we also believe in giving our employees pointedly bad reviews. Show up to work early? Every time? Never sick? 3of5 for attendance. Why? because noone gets a 5 silly, and showing up consitently 30 minutes early is just a normal thing to do. Why, I do think you would have to sleep in back to do that. Here we remind our managers, no sales associate is perfect and can always do with 2-3 points of improvement. Why do we do this? Well you see if you try to go to the department of labor and complain well then we can just show you were a problem all along. Well what about benefits? Working graves do you really think you'll have time or the energy to use education assistance? Maybe your transgender? Naaa Plaid doesn't think your healthcare should be covered, even though you pay for it. 401k? Do you really plan on retiring as a Plaid Pantry Clerk? Try to get any of this stuff changed, go ahead try. Mention Union to someone. Plaid Pantries is anti union, anti worker and completely 100 percent about profit. You hear horror stories about Walmart. This IS walmart on a smaller scale. Side note Walmart workers are paid more.

Pros

If you find yourself at a store with good people, the experience can be great for resume filler. The benefits are solid, although they work to keep employees under-employed to avoid providing them. The job has incredibly low aptitude requirements. If you do take a job here, I recommend it's in Beaverton as there at least the Area Managers have some common sense and humanity, albeit the bar is low.

Cons

The corporate management is incompetent at best. The hours are incredibly demanding. Predictive Scheduling required by state law is inconsistent at best. If you're working and the next guy doesn't show, have fun working 16+ hours. (My longest shift was just shy of 30 hours) HR will find any reason to avoid resolving workplace conflicts. The company promotes safety until it gets in the way of profits. Bonuses are a pittance, and they have a man whose job is to prevent managers from receiving them. Frankly, the job relies far too much on luck of the draw regarding workplace conditions. Despite promoting flexible hours, if a life event forces you to change schedule you'll be lucky to be able to have your schedule changed.

Pros

Very good company to work for, as long as you're honest, be a team-player and willing to go beyond just the assigned duties.

Cons

There isn't anything that can be labeled a con.
