Pros

The entire atmosphere was horrible... nothing positive to say.

Cons

Planet smoothie was definitely not a great first job for me. Management was terrible. My boss constantly referred to me as ditzy and air headed any time I made a mistake. She had her more experienced employees train me but they did everything for the most part because obviously, a new employee doesn’t work as quickly as someone who’s worked there for a year. I got more training doing cleaning than the actual job those 8 hours a week I was there. You’re constantly fighting for hours because everyone works the same shifts. Everyone constantly treated me like I was slow and stupid. My boss constantly stared at me with a disgusted look on her face when I made a smoothie for a customer, just waiting to scold me for something. She criticized everything I did, including the amount of water I put in the mop bucket. She pushed us girls to close alone; I believe the age range of my co-workers was 15-21. She was having a 15 year old girl run a store alone (and close by herself) and we didn’t even have a safety button or anything to signal we were having an emergency. Anything can happen when you’re running a store by yourself, and I don’t think it’s even legal for anyone under 16 to work alone (let alone close down a store) without a manager. I had anxiety every time I walked into that place, and a manager who’s constantly insulting you takes a toll on you after awhile. She didn’t trust me to do anything by myself, and she would have her brother and other employees constantly watching me. It felt so uncomfortable. She didn’t trust me to do anything, yet she was constantly pressuring me to run her store by myself. This was my first job, I was only 17, didn’t know what I was doing, and she keeps telling me “I need to be comfortable closing alone”. She had her own creepy customer that she would run to the back of the store to hide from and she would make her brother serve that customer because she was too scared to. If a grown woman is afraid to deal with this customer, why is she pressuring her young staff to be alone in the store with these kinds of people? I was only there for 4 months and it was terrible. It was humiliating when she screamed at me in front of a new employee because I accidentally messed up a smoothie. She saw I messed up and fixed it for the customer. As soon as the customer walked out the door, she screamed her lungs out at me. Completely made me feel like crap. I will never go back to that planet smoothie again. I’ll never forget that hostile environment and the anxiety my boss gave me. I was belittled every time I worked there by her and her employees. I was yelled at and constantly watched. I felt isolated from the team because my boss convinced everyone I was incompetent. I felt anxiety as soon as I walked in the store for my shift because my boss intimated me every time I did something. I was dehumanized and convinced I deserved her abusive behavior for so long.

Pros

Id say the pros of working here have all had to do with my team and the coworkers I have. This is the best team of people I could ask to work with as a first timer in the food service industry.

Cons

Cons aren't many, maybe misunderstandings at work, favoritism that can happen between coworkers causing others problems even if without knowledge
